What is the role?
We are looking for a Safeguarding & Player Welfare Officer to provide the Women’s First Team with credible and expert Safeguarding and welfare support, advice and guidance. Being a visible presence within the team and acting as the first point of contact for any player safeguarding or welfare concerns, the Safeguarding & Player Welfare Officer will play a key role in developing and sustaining a culture of safer working, high performance, and respectful behaviour.
What will you be doing?
You will work with the Clubs Head of Safeguarding to ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to and to support the licence and league requirements.
Undertaking safeguarding spot checks and audits across the Women’s First Team throughout the season, you will ensure safeguarding plans and risk assessments are in place and accurate records are securely stored in accordance with the data protection legislation, keeping confidentiality at the forefront of your work.
You will work closely with medical, sports psychology and other club multi-disciplinary teams to ensure players' welfare and wellbeing are being considered at all times. This will include ensuring all staff across the programme are trained to an appropriate level and have clarity on what constitutes a low-level concern and wider safeguarding and welfare matters.
Taking responsibility for helping to deliver the player life skills programme and supporting the educational needs of young players as well as the transition between squads, you will ensure the welfare of anyone under the age of 18 is always top priority and keep parents/carers up to date on their progress.

You have excellent communication skills with the ability to build meaningful, strong relationships with staff, players, parents/carers and external partners and an understanding of professional boundaries.
With a positive and proactive approach, you are able to focus on solutions and overcoming challenges while demonstrating integrity and confidence in professionally challenging anyone where necessary to maintain a safer working environment and safeguarding culture.
You are motivated by helping others and keeping people, including vulnerable people, safe and their rights protected. With a learning mindset, you are keen to continue your professional development keep up to date with best practice and learning opportunities.
