The Role:

As a Business Systems Analyst at Kobo's “Big Data Team” you will bridge the gap between business needs and data solutions. This role involves analyzing business processes, identifying system requirements, and implementing technology solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness. The Business Systems Analyst will work closely internally with stakeholders and the Big Data Team to ensure that systems meet business requirements and are aligned with strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirement Gathering and Analysis

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business and system requirements
  • Conduct detailed analysis of business processes and workflows to identify system requirements
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications

System Design and Implementation

  • Work with Big Data to design and implement system solutions
  • Ensure that system designs meet business requirements and are scalable and maintainable
  • Participate in system testing and validation to ensure solutions meet specifications

Documentation

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including system requirements, functional specification, process flows, and user guides
  • Update documentation as systems and processes evolve

Project Management

  • Assist in project planning, scheduling, and coordination
  • Monitor project progress and report on status to stakeholders
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget

Stakeholder Communication

  • Act as a liaison between business units and the Big Data Team
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops to gather requirements and feedback
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and project status to stakeholders

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in business systems analysis
  • Recommend and implement process and system improvements
  • Support change management initiatives to ensure successful adoption of new systems and processes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Business Systems Analyst or in a similar role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in business analysis and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Visio, JIRA)
  • Experience with system design, implementation, and testing
  • Knowledge of database management and data analysis
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Professional certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional), PMP (Project Management Professional), or CSBA (Certified Software Business Analyst)
  • Experience in Big Data and Business Intelligence projects
  • Knowledge of Slack, Office 360, ClickUp, Zoom
