Lab Jig Designer

The lab jig designer will be part of the mechanical team where he/she will be assigned to design dedicated equipment for lab testing according to customer specification. The chosen candidate has to co-ordinate with tool-shop or sub-contractors for the manufacturing of the jigs. Apart from the design work he/she will have to assemble, repair, set and maintain new and existing jigs(hands on work).

Main duties include:

Mainly, the lab jig designer will be responsible for the design of jigs to meet customer specifications. He/she must keep within pre-set budgets agreed with our customers. He/she must ensure that the equipment will be ready in time to meet customer deadlines. Besides the main design work, he/she must assemble, setting up and commission new jigs following other routine maintenance and repair work that might be necessary on existing jigs.  

Job requirements

  • Preferably having a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background in similar fields combined with related experience.
  • Knowledge of CAD software especially Pro Engineer / Creo.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience of machining processes like CNC / conventional milling machines, lathe, wire-cut, and spark erosion will help design for manufacturability and will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to be flexible and multitasking.
  • Hands on approach.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
