Overview:
The analyst will be responsible for performing activities related to the Department’s Data Governance, ensuring the quality of data being reported and adherence to internal controls. This work is being performed in conjunction with Finance modernization efforts and is part of a fast paced and evolving environment. The analyst will have an opportunity to work across many areas of the Company and its operations, with some direct exposure to senior leadership.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Executing quality assurance/ quality control procedures over data governance deliverables, policy adherence testing, and resolution of matters of non-adherence to the Finance/ Risk Data Governance framework. More specific responsibilities are outlined below.
- Quality assurance/ quality control procedures for data governance deliverables is a review of all deliverables received to ensure consistency of output and alignment with template design/acceptable values within 3 weeks of receipt. This analyst will be responsible for defining procedures , executing on procedures and concluding on whether the deliverables meet framework expectations , compiling and socializing results , communicating progress and observations to management, relevant parties for resolution, and/ oversight committee/s senior management , working with relevant parties for resolution
- Policy adherence testing independently verifies that data governance deliverables within the Finance/ Risk Data Governance Framework are in alignment with standards/ requirements. The testing is accomplished through the following activities : defining testing procedures , creating and updating test plans and communicating those plans to relevant parties , sampling deliverables for in scope testing, executing on testing procedures and concluding on whether the deliverables effectively align with the framework requirements, compiling and socializing testing results , communicating testing progress and observations to senior management and/or oversight committees
- As issues are identified within the testing and procedures noted above, this analyst will oversee the process to resolving those as matters of non-adherence to the framework. This will include regular review to ensure the issue management process is followed and summarizing metrics/dashboards for socializing/escalating to senior management and/or oversight committees.
- Monitoring new guidance/ requirements within the Finance/ Risk Data Governance Framework and understanding impact to policy adherence testing and quality assurance/quality control procedures for data governance deliverables.
- Provide cross training/ support to team members
- May be required to make presentations to immediate managers or peers on subject matters in which they have expertise.
- Participating in training and development opportunities across Finance and among supported businesses.
- Understanding and adhering to department timelines and deliverables.
- Understanding and adhering to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Supervisory/ Managerial Responsibility:
May train junior staff
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years’ experience OR Associate's degree and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting auditing, operations or financial institutions
Comprehensive understanding of finance and accounting concepts + knowledge of banking industry
Strong technical aptitude and advanced financial modeling skills
Education and Experience Preferred:
Prefer previous data governance experience
Prefer previous experience in banking/ financial services industry
Prefer familiarity with audit methodology
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or related field. Financial Services Industry experience
