Job Summary: 

The Operations Utility Worker is responsible to make general basic repairs and meet the minor maintenance needs of the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC), that is not the traditional work of the Journeyman Building & Construction Trades workers listed above.

Essential Duties:

  • Paint Preparation
  • General basic repairs (Restroom partitions, toilet paper dispensers, ceiling tiles, etc.)
  • Minor maintenance/repairs (Replacing cover plates, changing bulbs, fix door handles, aerators, Water Closet continually running, replace ceiling tiles, repair baseboards, reset pavers with sand, fix small appliances, office furniture adjustments, replace filters, etc.)
  • Move and/or relocate equipment, furniture, etc.
  • Hanging pictures, frames, boards, mirrors, security hangers
  • Basic Convention Center Equipment repair (Seats, dasher boards, replace batteries, etc.)
  • Cleaning and Maintenance of back of house areas, garages, workstations/work areas.
  • Duties to include, but not limited to, trash removal, restocking and spill cleanup
  • Basic mechanical knowledge (basic knowledge of tools, troubleshooting, repairs, etc.)
  • Work and maintain proper equipment which may be heavy duty in nature
  • Conduct general machinery cleaning
  • Adapt to work on different maintenance work orders
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Assisting other departments as required by management.

Required Qualifications (Job Knowledge, Skills, and Education):

  • A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalency
  • Minimum years of related work experience:   2 years  
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Required variable work schedule such as late hours, early mornings, extended hours, holidays, and weekends.
  • Required to climb stairs, ladders, and use of other similar equipment.
  • Required to stand for long periods of time
  • Required to work in inclement weather environments.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, can be severe on other days.

Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required in certain situations. Employee must comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions.

This is an onsite position that requires in-person collaboration with multiple departments.

Pay Rate: $26.25 Hourly (Union)/Non-Exempt.
