Join Svitzer as our new Chief Engineer.

The position:

The position is a full-time employment, and you will be working in a 1:1 roster (four weeks on: four weeks off), as one of 3-5 crew members. Our vessels operate all over Denmark but with occasional trips to Sweden or where assistance is needed.

Who are we?

Svitzer operates globally with a fleet of more than 450 vessels, stretching over 4 regions and 36 countries. In Svitzer Scandinavia we have 30 vessels, servicing all of Denmark, Bremerhaven in Germany and the Swedish East and West Coast, from Nynäshamn to Brofjorden and everything in between. We have 73 crew on our Faroe Island flagged vessels, operated by Swedish crew and 160 crew on our DIS flagged vessels. We pride ourselves in our ability to service our customers locally with the safety of our crew being our top priority.

Your responsibilities:

As Chief Engineer in Svitzer you will be responsible for:

  • Tug maintenance on board in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule and budget.
  • Maintenance and repair of marine plant and equipment.
  • Supervision of personnel undertaking and assisting in the engineering function.
  • Preparation of maintenance and operational reports as required.
  • Participation in safety training, including the training of other crew members.
  • Assisting other engineers as required.
  • Ensuring day to day compliance with relevant environmental regulations
  • Participation in operational improvement exercises and liaison with SVITZER management regarding improved operational procedures, leading to a culture of continuous improvement.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for maritime professionals who can resonate with the following:

  • A couple of years’ experience in vessel maintenance and procurement.
  • Proactive and takes initiative in their daily tasks
  • Thrives in social settings with small crews
  • Practices a positive attitude in the workplace and good seamanship
  • Thrives in a dynamic operation and who has a flexible approach to daily tasks

Required qualifications:
 

  • Minimum 2nd Engineer with an unrestricted license as Chief Engineer
  • Valid STCW certificates (Basic Training, Survival Crafts, Advanced Firefighting, DSD, Medical Certificate
  • Strong communication skills in both Danish and English
  • Strong mechanical skills
