In this role as a Senior Java Engineer, you will support the development, testing, and ongoing enhancement of Java‑based REST/JSON middleware applications. This role plays a key part in ensuring application quality, stability, and performance through strong BDD automation practices, comprehensive testing, and production support. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross‑functional Agile teams to deliver high‑quality solutions that meet Wells Fargo’s engineering, security, and compliance standards while supporting both existing platforms and new technology initiatives.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Design, build, and maintain BDD automation frameworks and test suites using tools such as Cucumber, Karate, and JBehave
  • Execute functional, regression, integration, and end‑to‑end testing for REST/JSON‑based microservices
  • Translate business and technical requirements into test strategies, scenarios, and detailed test cases
  • Apply testing best practices, maintain traceability, and manage defects across the full lifecycle in alignment with Wells Fargo SDLC standards
  • Validate and test REST/JSON APIs and integration layers, including behavior and policy validation through Apigee API Gateway (routing, OAuth/security, quotas, traffic management, logging, and monitoring)
  • Partner with development teams to assess API changes and ensure backward compatibility and functional integrity
  • Collaborate with product, business, and architecture partners to ensure comprehensive test coverage and alignment with business requirements
  • Participate in on‑call rotation to support testing and production issues, including analysis and timely resolution
  • Use Splunk and monitoring tools to perform log analysis, troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and proactive issue detection
  • Support release validation, environment readiness, defect analysis, and ongoing production stability initiatives
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, refinement, daily standups, and retrospectives
  • Work closely with engineering, architecture, and product teams to drive continuous improvement

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of experience with Java and Spring frameworks

Desired Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience using Postman
  • 2+ years of experience with RESTful or SOAP web services
  • 2+ years of experience with test automation and CI/CD pipelines supporting full‑lifecycle applications
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies
  • 2+ years working with SQL or Mongo databases
  • 1+ year of experience with in‑memory data stores such as Redis, MongoDB, or Cassandra
  • 1+ year of experience with Kafka
  • Hands‑on experience with Git/GitHub, Jenkins, SonarQube, Gradle, and defect‑tracking tools such as JIRA
  • Experience with monitoring and APM tools, including Splunk and AppDynamics
