About the Role
Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor International & Engagement and the Board, the Pro-Vice Chancellor & General Director (PVC & GD) RMIT Vietnam is a pivotal role responsible for the academic and strategic leadership of RMIT Vietnam.
The PVC & GD leads and provides strategic direction to the Schools, Students, Engagement and Research portfolios along with an oversight to academic activities including academic policies, processes, workload models and budgets for RMIT Vietnam.
In collaboration with Deputy Vice Chancellors (DVCs) for colleges and portfolios across RMIT University the PVC & GD will foster a one-university mindset on strategic matters balanced with local and regional context and appropriate risk management.
Jointly with the Deputy General Director, who leads RMIT Vietnam’s operations, the role holds legal responsibility for RMIT’s operations in Vietnam and has accountability for managing legal compliance expectations of RMIT with Vietnam laws.
We are seeking a highly experienced academic leader who is excited by the opportunity of building on RMIT’s success in the region and offers the following capabilities and experience:
A Ph.D. qualification with a demonstrated record of academic leadership and an outstanding, active research track record.
Strong understanding of the higher education landscape, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, and the importance of research, innovation and education.
A progressive and diverse career demonstrating significant relevant experience, including in multinational organisations of similar size, scale and complexity.
Exceptional influencing and relationship-building skills, including evidence of the capacity to partner with senior executives to deliver on a multi-dimensional and global strategy.
A contemporary approach to leadership with a track record of building engaged and capable executive leadership teams.
Qualifications:
A PhD qualification in relevant discipline(s), coupled with extensive academic, research and leadership experience.

The role located in Ho Chi Minh City, is open for both local and expatriate candidates.
If you are an expatriate candidate, you will require a work permit to work in Vietnam. To qualify for a work permit you will need (at minimum) a degree in a relevant field to the position and must be able to provide official written confirmation (statement of service) of at least 3 years’ senior management related experience.
