Pay range: $65,000 - $97,489 annually, based on experience.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Medical Staff Services Departments provides many services to the Medical Staffs, Advanced Practice Professionals and Allied Health Professionals of our multi-hospital organization including: Initial and ongoing credentialing and privileging, managing provider enrollment for St. Charles Medical Group providers, supports Medical Staff Sections/Divisions/Committees, implements and manages professional leadership contracts and compensation, oversees the proctoring process of privileged professionals, manages expirable documents, manages and maintains the credentialing database (Source of Truth), orientation of new providers, develops and maintains, professional relationships with the Organized Medical Staff and other professionals in the spirit of collaboration and service.  

POSITION OVERVIEW: This position serves as a delegated authority to providers, and facilitates coordinated accountability efforts, between Medical Staff Clinical Leaders, the Medical Staff Services Department, and health system operational departments such as Quality and Safety, Risk and Compliance, Organizational Development and Education. The primary responsibility of this position is to support provider leader engagement on project improvement efforts, performance management, and quality projects.

This position does not directly manage other caregivers, however, may be asked to review and provide feedback on the work of other caregivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Coordinates amongst service line leadership and the Medical Staff Services Department when new services are being deployed or new providers are being recruited. 

Identifies new technologies/procedures that may necessitate or trigger proctoring or precepting of privileges not currently available.

Regularly reviews all clinical privileges and works to consolidate forms as appropriate, across the system Medical Staffs.

Participates in creating intentional relationships and demonstrates focus attitudes and behaviors that enhance the care experience.

Works with internal and external stakeholders to foster, develop, and support effective communication and to find opportunities to be proactive in laying the groundwork for smooth onboarding of credentialed providers and timely development of documents and processes when new privileges are needed.

Works with Departmental, Executive, and Medical Staff leadership to build collegial partnerships with existing and newly credentialed providers and their office personnel.

Seizes opportunities to expand the Department’s vision of becoming the primary source for physicians and their support team in interactions with St. Charles Healthcare.

Works with Medical Staff and hospital leadership to manage regular review and updates, as needed, to the clinical privileges form for all specialties.

Assumes responsibility for other periodic and on-going departmental projects, as assigned.

EDUCATION:                 

Required:   Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, or combination of education and experience to enable full performance of the position.

Preferred:  Bachelor’s Degree in related field.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

Required:   N/A

Preferred:   Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

           

EXPERIENCE:

Required:   At least 2 years’ experience working with physicians and other healthcare professionals in a hospital setting.

Preferred:   Knowledge of roles and responsibilities of an Organized Medical Staff in an acute healthcare setting. LEAN training.           

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION

This position requires frequent contacts with physicians and their office staff, both in-hospital and in their offices, as well as clinical departments throughout the office.

TRAVEL:

Ability to travel to all St. Charles Health System’s worksites and partner organizations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Continually (75% or more): Use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level.  

Frequently (50%): Sitting, standing, walking, lifting 1-10 pounds, keyboard operation. 

Occasionally (25%): Bending, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, carrying/pushing or pulling 1-10 pounds, grasping/squeezing.  

Rarely (10%):  Stooping/kneeling/crouching, lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling 11-15 pounds, operation of a motor vehicle. 

Never (0%):  Climbing ladder/step-stool, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25-50 pounds, ability to hear whispered speech level.
