Job Summary:

Provides overall leadership, strategic direction, planning, and administration of clinical and ancillary applications within the information systems department, under the direction of IT leadership, in alignment with UMMC’s healthcare mission, goals, and objectives.

Education & Experience

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of work-related experience (i.e. healthcare, clinical practice, information technology, accounting, finance, revenue cycle, clinical informatics, Epic application build, or education/training), including two (2) years in a supervisory role.

Certifications, Licenses, or Registration Required:

NA

Preferred Qualifications:

Epic clinical certifications/accreditations, Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMSS), or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMMSS) a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare clinical applications. Skilled in identifying system issues, evaluating user needs, and implementing solutions. Proficient in computer systems, programming logic, and current healthcare IT trends. Experienced in planning, developing, testing, and troubleshooting complex systems. Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate teams while staying current with emerging technologies and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and maintain clinical information technology solutions used in acute care settings, ensuring they meet budgets and deadlines.

  • Resolve conflicting demands from users for service-related items and establish operating procedures as needed.

  • Lead and manage clinical applications for multiple geographic locations, ensuring smooth transitions from implementation to production.

  • Develop and maintain clinical applications and ensure they meet clinical and business requirements.

  • Collaborate with leadership to create a vision for clinical systems improvement and work with IT to define strategies for delivery.
