The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.  Responsibilities include following the plan of care, providing treatments, and working collaboratively with the members of the team to help meet positive patient care outcomes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Furnishes services in accordance with agency policies Prepares clinical and progress notes Prepares equipment and materials for treatments observing aseptic techniques as required Assists the patient, parent, family in learning appropriate self-care techniques as required Provides services within agency service area as scheduled Informs the Pediatric RN Supervisor of changes in the patient’s condition, immediately Counsels the patient, parent in meeting nursing and related needs Participates in in-service programs Receives orders from physician or his representative according to policy Orientation of co-workers Other assigned duties as desired by the DCS and Director of Pediatric Operations

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program.

Has three years nursing experience preferred.  Pediatric Home Health experience is preferred.

Currently licensed as a licensed vocational nurse in the State of Texas.

Complies with accepted professional standards and practice.

Ability to demonstrate assessment and skills in caring for a pediatric client for Pediatric RN Supervisor.

Knowledge or experience with gastric button feeding and care;

Knowledge or experience with ventilators, tracheostomy and care.

Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.

Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
