Job Description:

What You’ll Do

Discover’s Technical Architects developer technology strategies and future state architectures that enable value streams and product teams to deliver industry differentiating solutions. We combine deep technical domain understanding with a broad view of organizational concerns including business acumen, security, compliance, and product delivery. Architects actively manage and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

How You’ll Do It

  • Establish and realize strategy for comprehensive network architectures, primarily focusing on global and local traffic management, including load balancing, DNS strategies, CDN, etc.
  • Design and manage implementation of best practices, compliance standards, security controls for enterprise-wide networking services
  • Design enterprise solutions for hybrid / multi-cloud and on-premise scenarios
  • Collaborate with the technology chief architects to synchronize strategies
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects to socialize the domain strategies
  • Delivery strategy across domains through technical and non-technical means
  • Integrate with Agile Methodology to track enterprise strategic alignment and deliverables
  • Serves as a technical thought leader across product area/family. Creates architectural artifacts that address a broad spectrum of concerns.
  • Deep understanding within a given technology area.
  • Leads technical strategy for the enterprise. Balance long term with short term architectural needs.
  • Has a longer-term view of where domain / product family is headed.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of multiple technical areas.

Qualifications You’ll Need
The Basics

  • Bachelors – Computer Science
  • 10+ yrs – Software Development, Software Engineering, Technical or related
  • Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of expert on the Dreyfus architecture scale

Bonus Points If You Have

  • STEM related Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
  • Experienced with enterprise architecture frameworks like TOGAF
  • 10+ years as an engineer &/or architect across various technology domains
  • 5+ years working as a network architect supporting data center(s) and / or cloud
  • Practical experience in delivering network service architectures
  • Deep understanding of load balancing strategies and architectures, CDNs, application delivery controllers, and network security protocols
  • Background in traditional, public cloud, and hybrid cloud network service architectures
  • Applied architecture in global / local traffic management
  • Enterprise level experience in architectural design, review and collaboration
  • Track record of managing technology lifecycle and delivery; including future-state
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $171,000.00 to $235,800.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
