The first commercial application of the Nuro Driver is autonomous goods delivery with our custom, electric, zero-occupant vehicles in partnership with some of the most recognized brands in the world including Uber and FedEx.

About the Role

Our operations team is growing and we are looking for Autonomous Vehicle Operators to join us. In this role you will be responsible for operating our autonomous test vehicles that run proprietary software and hardware.

Professionalism, care, and personal accountability are significant attributes as you will be expected to adhere to the culture of safety and standards of conduct exemplified by the team. You will have to pass a number of training checkpoints both in and out of the vehicle. 

About the Work

  • You will safely operate our autonomous vehicles and robots up to 8 hours a day
  • You will collaborate closely with our talented software & hardware engineers, as well as software operations specialists to advance our technologies and internal workflows, and ultimately help craft our product roadmap
  • Utilize proprietary software to collect data and troubleshoot in a variety of real world situations, while simultaneously providing detailed and accurate feedback to our engineers
  • You will occasionally interact with members of the public to educate them on autonomous vehicle technologies and behaviors

About You

  • You have a current valid TX driver's license and have been in possession of a US license for 3+ years
  • You have a clean driving record and pass a criminal background check
  • You are responsible, reliable, and detail-oriented
  • You are able to work independently or in small groups and for periods without direct supervision
  • You have advanced communication skills (written and verbal)
  • You are self-driven and have experience working in a start-up or dynamic environment, or the DNA to thrive in one
  • You are collaborative and team-oriented
  • Able to reliably work either our AM shift (6:00am-2:30pm Central Time) or PM shift (2:00pm-10:30pm Central Time) Monday through Friday, and occasionally weekends as needed
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position including bending, squatting, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds on a regular basis

Working Conditions and Essential Functions

Due to the nature of the position, this job requires:

  • Sitting for up to 8 hours per day in an enclosed vehicle alone or with/as a co-driver.
  • Bending, squatting, stretching and lifting up to 25 pounds on a regular basis. 
  • Side and up/down movement of the head, neck, back and shoulders necessary to operate a vehicle safely.
  • Ability to work in a vehicle that may brake, swerve, slow, or stop abruptly.
  • Holding and grasping with hands and frequent use of foot/feet to operate foot pedals when driving the vehicle.

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position the reasonably expected base hourly rate is $21 per hour. Any future increases in pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, education, location, and skills. You may also be entitled to a yearly bonus based on individual and company performance.
