SUMMARY

The OMNI Ship from Store (SFS) Manager is responsible for the successful operation of a JOANN store OMNI location in accordance with the core competencies, guidelines, and policies set forth by the company. The OMNI SFS Manager is responsible for all operational priorities (freight & planogram sets) and that these priorities are completed efficiently and in compliance with company policies. This position will provide the best shipping experience for our SFS customers, while delivering strong financial performance that meets and exceeds expectations.

Working alongside the OMNI Store Manager, the OMNI SFS Manager will assist in the professional development and growth of the individual Jo-Ann store team members through effective leadership, training, coaching and active mentoring. This position will participate in the appraisal process for all SFS team members and is responsible for the effective scheduling of the SFS team.

Utilizing financial and productivity reports to drive financial results and service behaviors, the SFS Manager will achieve operational excellence!

JOB DUTIES

HEARTS

  • Superior and consistent store environment and store conditions.
  • Develop knowledgeable and well-trained team members.
  • Schedules 35+ team members to ensure proper staffing to meet and exceed productivity expectations and needs.
  • Uses sound judgment to make good decisions based on information gathered and analyzed. Sees possibility and stays in pursuit of continual improvement.
  • Maintains a disciplined eye for detail that shows how their store is presented each day. Protects and is an ambassador for the Jo-Ann brand.
  • Holds self and those around them accountable for superior performance and results in all that they do.
  • Interacts with people effectively. Able and willing to share and receive information.

HANDS

  • Picks, prepares, and packs online orders for the Ship from Store and Buy Online Pick up In Store programs.
  • Assembles, labels, and completes system transaction of shipping for each individual shipment accurately and efficiently.
  • Unloads freight from the truck and sorts it according to company procedures.
  • Loads completed Ship from Store orders onto the truck for delivery directly to customers.
  • Stocks shelves accurately according to planogram while maintaining a high level of productivity and close attention to detail.
  • May occasionally cut fabric for customers or process customer transactions at the cash register. Provides excellent customer service when on the retail floor.
  • Oversees and directs the work of the overnight Ship from Store team to accurately pick, prep, pack, and ship online orders while meeting production goals.
  • Works closely with store management to ensure that incoming orders have a strategic plan for movement into and out of the back room.
  • Trains new Ship from Store Team Members on a variety of JOANN processes in the store.

  • A focus on driving sales through superior in-stocks, effective merchandising and superior team management to achieve all productivity and operational goals.
  • Control of policy compliance, in-line with expectations of company Store Productivity and control of labor expenses and all associated metrics, as outlined by Store Manager.
  • Full focus on all controllable store expenses, as outlined by Store Manager.
  • Adapts to changing work environments, work priorities, and organizational needs.
  • Identifies process improvements to create efficiencies for the Ship from Store team to better reach shipping quotas and goals.
  • Maintains high standards throughout the back room by ensuring the area is well organized and by cleaning up any spills/messes with a sense of urgency.
  • Works to minimize shrink or shipping errors in the store by following proper policies and procedures with attention to detail.

  • Establishes and fosters positive business relationships with all employees.
  • Individual and group training for all tasks and cross-training that ensures sustainability.
  • Understand and support store operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Conducts performance and disciplinary discussions in collaboration with the OMNI Store Manager and independently in their absence.
  • Demonstrate a “customer first” service focus in all operational processes.
  • Knowledge of retail financials and the ability to assist in creating and executing financial action plans.
  • Naturally curious and inquisitive nature with a desire to learn and grow.
  • Self-starter who promotes action and maintains sense of urgency to achieve results.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand during an entire shift (other than normal break time).
  • Continuously walk around all areas of the store throughout shift.
  • Read written instructions, reports, and other information on paper and computer screens.
  • Orally communicate with customers and other team members on consistent basis throughout their shift.
  • Input data on computer keyboard and handheld units.
  • Use 2-way radios (hear incoming messages and provide verbal response).
  • Push/pull merchandise with appropriate equipment (carts, bins, etc.) to and from backroom and sales floor.
  • Lift, place, and arrange items on shelves and racks.
  • Bend down and reach above head.
  • Climb and descend ladder.
  • Individually lift up to 49 pounds, and group lift up to 97 pounds (under 2 lbs. on a constant basis, 10 lbs. on a frequent basis, 10-49 lbs. on an occasional basis, and 50-97 lbs. group lifts on an infrequent basis).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Full responsibility for SFS personnel, including scheduling, team relations and SFS operations.

EXPECTED AVAILABILITY

Available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. This position may require overnight duties due to store needs and scheduling.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent

Education Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.

Experience Minimum: 3-5 years of retail leadership experience.

Experience Preferred: 1-2 years of previous fulfillment or shipping management experience.
