Job Description:

You Are

A seasoned indirect tax leader responsible for overseeing Pitney Bowes’ North American indirect tax and business license functions. You provide strategic and hands‑on leadership across U.S. and Canadian compliance, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to all regulatory requirements. You partner closely with internal teams, outsourced providers, and Treasury to manage filings, audits, systems, and cash tax forecasting in a high‑volume environment.

You Will

  • Lead all North American indirect tax and business license compliance activities, executed through outsourced service providers.

  • Review draft returns, payments, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for the U.S. and Canada.

  • Provide accurate, timely data for filings, payments (check/ACH), billbacks, and business license renewals.

  • Oversee audit data collection and coordination with Finance, Accounting, IT, and external partners to ensure completeness and accuracy.

  • Perform monthly RAG‑scored tax account reconciliations and drive remediation actions.

  • Partner with business units to resolve tax issues involving clients, invoices, systems, and government auditors.

  • Lead collaboration with internal tech teams and external vendors (PTMS, Vertex, SAP, OLFM) to review and validate sales and property tax system outputs.

  • Review audit assessments, negotiate findings, and develop strategies to mitigate liabilities and reduce future exposure.

  • Serve as the sales and use tax SME, ensuring accurate tax configuration and compliant transaction processing across systems.

  • Liaise with Treasury to present cash tax forecasts and oversee ACH and wire payment approvals in a high‑volume environment.

  • Manage a shared administrative resource handling indirect tax mail, exemptions, and Salesforce inquiries.

  • Review, approve, or develop Sales/Use and Property Tax DTPs where needed.

  • Support SOX testing and related reporting requirements.

  • Complete special projects for Tax and Treasury as assigned.

You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; MBA preferred.

  • 5+ years of indirect tax experience, including 2+ years in a managerial role.

  • Strong attention to detail, independence, and deadline discipline.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical, computational, and problem‑solving abilities.

  • High proficiency in MS Office and tax/financial systems; experience with SAP (Treasury/AP/Accounting T‑codes), OLFM, PTMS, and Vertex preferred.

  • Familiarity with banking and treasury platforms such as Northern Trust Treasury Passport and Tax Portal, Bank of America CashPro, CIBC, and Centralis (Netting).

Location:

This is a hybrid role, with 4 days in the Shelton, CT office. We will consider qualified applicants for a flex opportunity. If the role is flex, we expect no less than quarterly on-site presence in Shelton, CT.
