Solution Architect (Credit Risk)

Interested in part-time, job-share or flexible working? We want to talk to you!

Join our community.

We have a fantastic opportunity to join the bank as a Solution Architect in the Credit Risk domain.

Here you’ll work closely with other architecture teams, eg, Enterprise, Technical, Data & Security Architecture and will collaborate with Business and IT colleagues in Santander UK, as well as Santander Global Architecture.

You’ll concentrate on the functional architecture of applications and how they interact with other systems in the Architecture Landscape of Santander UK, Group and 3rd Parties. We work as an Architecture Community across a number of domains sharing reusable patterns and solutions learnt on projects, independently of projects and domains.

If you are interested in helping shape the design of future Santander UK systems, then Solutions Architecture could be the choice for you.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Applying domain, and Decision Driven Design experience, using your knowledge of the BIAN framework, TOGAF, ArchiMate and API & microservice architecture solutions, using tool such as Avolution Abacus, to create Solution Design Documents (SDD)
  • Owning the end-to-end Solution Architecture, collaborating and co-ordinating input from other architecture disciplines (Security, Data, Infra, Cloud, etc), and aligned to Domain Enterprise Architecture Strategy
  • Documenting complex As-Is / Transition / Target Architectures aligned to associated Roadmaps
  • Establishing & maintaining Strategy/Roadmaps, aligning diverse stakeholders across different technologies and business areas, both locally & globally
  • Having knowledge of Digital/API/Micro-Services/Big Data/AWS/Azure/Cloud Architecture and domain relevant software packages
  • Understanding and experience of migrating/decommissioning from legacy technologies to new technologies and removing obsolescence

What you’ll bring:

  • Experienced in IT Systems Design and Solutions Architecture with Financial Institution knowledge – Retail, or Corporate, and ideally domain knowledge in Credit Risk, encompassing experience in Credit Risk Decisioning, Credit Risk Monitoring, Credit Bureau Services, Risk MI and Integrations
  • Be passionate about driving and leading change by creating practical, workable architectures aligned to IT principles/standards and following appropriate governance
  • Collaboration is critical, as is the ability to communicate complex concepts (both written and verbal)
  • Demonstratable experience to diplomatically challenge and influence a diverse set of stakeholders and colleagues

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Work within situations where there is ambiguity, and have resilience to drive clarity/agreement
  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills across competing demands on time
  • Be flexible and have a ‘can do’ attitude and a sense of initiative with the ability to learn fast (new concepts and skills), and deal calmly with situations under pressure
  • Manage risks in a highly Regulatory business/environment

What else you need to know:

This role is a permanent position to be based in Milton Keynes.

We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

If you apply for this role in this location, it’s important you consider your travelling distance, time and cost from your home to the office location.

We’re happy to discuss specific working patterns and arrangement within this hybrid approach during the recruitment process.

If you’re interested in this role but with part time hours or a job-share we would still love to hear from you and discuss these.

Application process

If your application is successful a member of our recruitment team will be in touch. We will arrange a short call with you to learn more about you and what you are looking for from your next career move, as well as answer any questions you have about working in the Santander tech team. If both sides agree we will send your CV to the hiring manager to review. For this position, the interview process will be :–

1st  Stage – A 30/60 minute virtual interview consisting of technical questions

2nd Stage – A 60 minute formal interview where we will ask both technical and competency-based questions. This can be done virtually or face to face depending on your situation.

If there’s anything we can do in the recruitment process to help you achieve your best, please let us know.
