As a Senior Compute Virtualization Engineer, your main focus will be on Windows OS and Redhat Linux technologies as well as VMware and Nutanix Platforms. This role helps define and implement Windows Server technologies and methodologies, which will have a heavy emphasis on automation and a hybrid cloud environment, while maintaining operational excellence in multiple world class Data Center environments.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
This position will work regularly with Micron’s Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements. You will be expected to suggest, promote, and leverage published standards to minimize environment complexity and ensure regulatory as well as license compliance. You will have the opportunity to travel to other Micron sites as well as technology conferences and trainings.
Role Specifics:
Provide day to day technology directions within Linux, Windows Server, VMware and Nutanix
Maintain global collaboration with the other Micron IT operations teams, both internal and external to IT Engineering
Operational support
Incident management and problem management
Project execution
Maintain OLA and SLA agreements with other Micron Business Units
Innovation
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Continually improves operations through routine monitoring of system performance metrics and proactive actions.
Reviewing of system log files, trend analysis, configuration, incident and problem management processes.
Recommends and works with the Solution and Enterprise Architect on system or architectural changes when needed to improve performance, high availability, scalability, or propose innovative technologies.
Ensures architectural consistency and provides technical direction through roadmap process, knowledge management, disaster recovery plan development and testing.
Crafting all the necessary documentation for any changes in the environment or innovative technology deployments as reference architecture for the global operation team.
Additional primary responsibilities:
Support and solve hardware based server issues in data center
Perform maintenance, support, and fix network equipment, including hardware installs and upgrades
Deep knowledge of VMware infrastructure protocols
Deep knowledge of Nutanix infrastructure protocols
Proactively evaluate system performance and identify bottlenecks
Build and maintain documentation in relation to system configuration, mappings, processes, and service records
Implement, coordinate, and solve traditional and virtual infrastructure devices.
Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve incidents and restore service to clients
Qualifications:
3-4 years in a System Administration Engineering role
1-2 years in a VMware specialist role
1-2 years in a Nutanix specialist role
1-2 years experience with implementing and fixing Data Center-based technologies
Must be fluent in English and Spanish to effectively communicate with local and international Team Members.
