Non-Certified CS/SPD Technician - Scope

As a Non-Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms care for our patients and rely on you to successfully set up the operating room. Non-Certified CS/SPD Technicians receive ample support, training, and education, including learning how to operate the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and using the newest sterilization tools and concepts.
A caregiver in this position works 10:00am – 6:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
Provide case cart management.
Understand proper handling of equipment, instrumentation and chemicals.
Perform preventative maintenance.
Observe personal protective equipment standards in the decontamination process.
Scan, sort, inspect and assemble instruments by instrument list and wrap and label as documented in the procedure.
Perform recordkeeping.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school diploma or GED.
Will obtain a sterile processing distribution certification (CRST) by IAHCSMM or CBSPD within 2 years after the new hire period is completed.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year of healthcare experience or a similar background in mechanical/manufacturing assembly.
Military experience as a Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F) or similar will be considered.
