Gogo Business Aviation is looking for a dynamic, innovative Associate Backend Engineer to join a strategically significant and growing team of world class engineers who will play a key role in implementing our next Evolution 5G Internet Service capabilities and cloud-based entertainment system for the aviation industry.

As a Gogo Business Aviation Backend Engineer, you will contribute to a development team in building applications that serve as cloud-based entertainment system for the aviation industry. Think Netflix streaming on airplanes!

How will you make a difference?

• Design and develop highly scalable, distributed backend system to support Aircraft’s Inflight Entertainment Solutions

• Build applications using high code coverage unit tests and E2E tests

• Implement traditional and serverless applications on the AWS Platform

• Hands on Development Position – 80% of time coding

• Participate in the full SDLC/Agile cycle engagements including scrum meetings, iterative development, and design sessions

• Manage and develop RESTFUL microservices using best engineering practices

• Collaborate with system analysts, engineers, enterprise architects and subject matter experts to establish the functional or technical vision of our solutions

• Contribute to a healthy and collaborative development team with a committed work ethic

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field

• 1-2 years’ experience with Python/Java/Go

• 1-2 years’ experience with Linux environment (Bash/Python)

Required Skills Talents & Experience

• Good understanding of data structures algorithms, OOPS Design patterns, service-oriented architecture, and Test-Driven Development (TDD)

• Proven ability to negotiate timeline and architecture across functional teams

• Experience with integrating third-party front-end libraries and services

• Experience using SCM tools such as Git. Understanding of the Git workflow

• Ability to contribute productively to a fast-paced development team, delivering demonstrable code in two-week increments

Desirable Skills, Experience and Talents

• Knowledge of continuous integration using Jenkins

• Knowledge of Docker containers and container orchestration

• Experience with AWS, including EC2, Lambda, and S3

• Comfortable using IntelliJ/PyCharm/Visual Studio Code IDE to perform daily development tasks

• Experience and/or interest in aviation and/or Telecommunications

• Commitment and drive for quality, technical excellence, and results

Equal Pay Disclosure(s)

Base Pay:

72,000.00 - 90,000.00 USD Annual

Target Annual Short-Term Incentive:

Bonus Plan at 5% (% of Annualized Base Pay)
