Job Description:

As a(n) Control System Engineer in the Engineering department, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.

Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Evaluating solutions from suppliers and integrators and participating in their acceptance.
  • Creating control systems for industrial machines using various automation technologies.
  • Proposing automation technologies for manufacturing processes in cooperation with specialists.
  • Estimating costs and timelines machinery related works, especially automation systems.
  • Contributing to the design process and defining EMEA standards.
  • Working on projects in Poland and the EMEA region.
  • Sharing knowledge and experience, and pursuing personal development through interesting tasks, benefiting from team members' knowledge and skills, using training platforms, and participating in knowledge-sharing initiatives

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who meet following minimum requirements:

  • Engineering Degree in Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience in Design, commissioning, debugging, and optimization of control systems and programs of industrial machinery and equipment, knowledge of automation software (Siemens, Rockwell) for PLC and visualization; familiarity with the market of instrumentation and control components and basic computer control networks problems.
  • Ability to translate process requirements into control system architecture and algorithms; proficiency in reading and understanding technical documentation, including electrical, IT structural, pneumatic, and P&ID diagrams.
  • Understanding of safety systems and European directives related to machinery (high safety sensitivity is crucial).
  • Demonstrated creativity and a solid understanding of fundamental physics principles and mathematic.
  • Ability to work well within a team, collaborate closely with customer/supplier groups to agree on scope and specifications, develop requirements, and review offers and proposed solutions. Manage the delivery, installation, and validation of equipment on time and within budget.
  • Proficiency in English language at the C1 level, both spoken and written.

Additional knowledge / nice-to-have skills / preferred qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Skills in configuring and commissioning vision systems.
  • Ability to program industrial robots / cobots
  • Experience in one or more automation technologies (e.g., assembling automation, discrete automation, continuous processes, batch process, motion control, HMI programming, web handling, extrusion, moulding, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 topics and experience in data automation (data acquisition, data analysis), data acquisition, and network security, smart solutions.
  • Proficiency in high-level programming languages, object-oriented languages, and other languages used for data analysis.
  • Experience with tools for data analysis and system simulation.
  • Experience working in different cultural environments (working abroad).
  • Proficiency in German language at B1 level and Polish language at B1 level.

  • Main Workplace: The primary workplace will be in Wroclaw, Poland, but the employee will be part of the regional EMEA engineering team and collaborate with members from multiple countries.

  • Team Integration: The employed person will be part of the regional engineering team and, as a specialist, will join project teams that design and build industrial production lines and machines for internal 3M manufacturing needs.
  • Machine Design: Our team designs machines for various processes, primarily assembling automation, but also converting, web controlling, coating, and occasionally mixing and chemical processes.
