Medical Assistant II - Office Based & Field Based in Arizona

Work Location: Office Based working out of either of the Carelon Health Medical offices located in Tucson or Green Valley, AZ And Field Based.

Work Shift: 5 Days a Week, Monday – Friday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Medical Assistant II is responsible for assisting clinicians in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the physician. 

How will you make an impact: 

• Provides administrative work and back office support. 

• Greets patients in a friendly, service oriented manner in compliance with Care Center (CCC) or Medical Group Practice protocols and workflows. 

• Ensures medical records/charts have been pulled, patient data is current, appropriate paperwork is in order, and charts are reviewed/prepared. 

• Interviews patient, measures vital signs and records reason for visit. 

• Explains procedures, performs treatments, and administers prescribed medication. 

• Submitting referrals, authorizations and prior authorizations. 

• Schedules and confirms patient appointments. 

• Order medical supplies for mobile providers.

• Collaborative field visits with a provider.

Minimum Requirements:

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent And a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. 

• Requires an active, current and valid Medical Assistant certification. 

• For Carelon Health business unit, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position. 

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

• Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish.

• Phlebotomy background strongly preferred.

• Experience visiting patients out in the field.
