Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Propulsion Engineer level 2 to join our team at our Palm Beach Gardens, Florida location to support the Propulsion Systems and Control (PS&C) business unit.

The Northrop Grumman PS&C business unit is based in Elkton, Maryland and began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The Palm Beach Gardens location is the Air-breathing propulsion center of excellence specializing in the design, analysis and system integration of ramjets, scramjets and other advanced air-breathing propulsion systems.

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida is located a very short distance from the Atlantic Ocean.  You would be close to many top beaches, fishing, inland eco-tours, shopping, and restaurants.  Palm Beach Gardens also has many top golf choices and is home to The Professional Golfers Association of America and PGA National Resort.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of manager/senior analysts, conduct performance analyses in support of ramjet/scramjet propulsion system design and verification activities.
    • Develop mathematical models to match the physics of the system under evaluation including proper analysis methods/tools, proper boundary conditions, and appropriate material properties
    • Participate in training to develop technical expertise in air breathing propulsion analysis and design.
    • Work within peer review environment to build experience in group technical reviews
  • Provide technical assessments of test hardware and test data including validation of analysis.
  • Provide on-site coverage at test facilities during engine testing as required to support rapid turnaround between tests.
  • Analyze test data to assess performance, operability, and health of engine systems and test hardware.
  • Support propulsion and subsystem team leads to ensure technical and cost execution of each system component.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and presentations of work products to both internal and external customers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM plus two years of related experience or Master’s Degree in STEM. Mechanical or Aerospace degrees strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of system modeling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalents.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present analytical results in both oral and written formats.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Position will occasionally require travel to meet with various customers, in both government and industry, and to interface with suppliers.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Active Security Clearance
  • Prior experience or coursework in air breathing propulsion design and analysis
  • Experience using Matlab, NX solid modeling software or similar software.

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
