Job Title: Patient Care Assistant - Veterinary

Salary: £24,045 per annum

Location: St Clair Veterinary Group, Kirkcaldy

Job Type: Permanent, Full time

Hours: 40 hours per week, 4 x 10 hour days, 1 in 4 Saturdays

We are currently looking for a friendly, enthusiastic individual who is passionate about animal care to join our Patient Care Assistant team!

We are a small animal practice with a great team of vets, nurses and patient care assistants and receptionists who are all committed to animal health and welfare. 

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and reliable candidate who is interested in all aspects of hospitalised animal care

Roles and Responsibilities

This is a demanding role and requires dedication, proactivity, flexibility, a strong work ethic and a strong belief in delivering the highest standard of patient care.

  • Your work will involve all areas of primary care veterinary practice, including kennel rooms, theatre/sterilisation, laboratory, pharmacy and client care.

  • Provide inpatient care under the direction of the veterinary surgeons and nursing team, such as exercising, feeding and grooming hospitalised patients. 

  • Maintain patient accommodation, considering the condition and welfare of the patient, providing environmental enrichment and supportive aids as required. 

  • Clean, pack and sterilise surgical instruments and sterile supplies.  

  • Theatre maintenance including preparation and cleaning between surgeries. 

  • Assist with laboratory diagnostic techniques including use of in-house lab equipment to process samples and packaging for external laboratories.  

  • Under the direction of the veterinary surgeons and nursing team, contact and liaise with clients to provide/ receive patient updates.
