Job Description:

This role supports the development and deployment of data analytics at Intermountain Health. As a Data Analyst-Technical-Staff, you will be part of a team that contributes to strategic initiatives, clinical standards, and operational goals through data insights. Reporting to senior leaders in Digital Technology Services (DTS), you will collaborate with business and clinical leaders across Intermountain Health. The team ensures data applications are maintained, monitored, promoted, and used effectively.

Data Analyst (Laboratory Services Analytics)

Join Intermountain Health’s Analytics team and play a key role in advancing Laboratory Services through meaningful, enterprise-level data insights. In this analyst role, you’ll help drive the development and deployment of analytics that support strategic initiatives, clinical standards, and operational goals across the organization.

Partnering closely with leaders in Digital Technology Services (DTS), as well as business and clinical stakeholders, you’ll translate complex data into actionable insights that improve performance and patient care. Our team ensures analytics applications are maintained, monitored, promoted, and used effectively to support informed decision‑making.

Work Schedule

  • Hybrid role – required to work on site during the week; relocation assistance is not being offered for this position.
  • Core business hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Essential Functions

  • Provides advanced support for management level leadership in a business or clinical area.
  • Develops a deep understanding of customer data and business/clinical operations they support.
  • Fulfills complex customer requests through data exploration, report development, and visual storytelling.
  • Independently provides project updates and communicates analytic findings to their customers.
  • Leads analytic work demonstrations and hands-on training for customers to promote understanding and independent consumption of analytic work.
  • Enhances their technical skillset through individual learning and participation in Intermountain analytic community educational offerings, guided by their leader.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts

Data Analyst Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Intermediate skills in SQL and database tasks.
  • Ability to create effective visualizations and dashboards utilizing Tableau
  • Proficiency in office applications for daily tasks
  • Good communication skills with experience presenting data insights to peers.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data through relevant projects
  • Experience collaborating with team members and contributing to group projects.
  • Proficiency in Product Management, Project Management, or Program Management philosophies and methodologies, and capable of applying them to data analytic projects to ensure alignment with business goals and efficient execution.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in analytics related fields such as statistics, mathematics, information systems, computer science, finance, business management, or economics and two years of relevant experience performing statistical data analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in another area of study with four years of relevant work experience in a role performing data analysis.
  • Experience without a related degree will be considered if skill set and experience are robust.
  • Experience with Laoboratory Data
  • Epic Cogito Analytics Certification

Senior Data Analyst Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Strong skills in SQL and database management tasks.

  • Strong communication skills with experience presenting data insights to senior leaders.
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare data through specialized projects.
  • Experience fostering team collaboration and supporting individual development.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay updated on industry trends and advancements.
  • Proven experience in providing mentorship and guidance to junior analysts.
  • Advanced knowledge of Product Management, Project Management, or Program Management philosophies and methodologies, and capable of applying them to data analytic projects to ensure alignment with business goals and efficient execution

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$39.57 - $62.29
