Job Summary:
Synechron is seeking a skilled Azure DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and manage secure, scalable, and reliable cloud platforms and applications. This role will focus on creating automated deployment pipelines, infrastructure management, and governance within Azure environments. The ideal candidate will contribute to enhancing platform stability, operational maturity, and security, supporting development teams through automation best practices, and ensuring continuous delivery excellence. This position plays a vital role in driving digital transformation and operational efficiency within the organization.

Software Requirements:

  • Required:

    • Azure DevOps (Azure Pipelines, Boards, Repos) – proven experience in pipeline creation and management (minimum 5 years)

    • Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep)

    • Azure CLI and PowerShell scripting

    • Container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, AKS) – preferred but not essential

  • Preferred:

    • Monitoring and alerting tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics)

    • Configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet)

    • GitHub or other version control systems

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain Azure infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code practices.

  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and deployment for Azure workloads.

  • Integrate best practices for governance, access control, and security within Azure platform delivery.

  • Enhance platform reliability, availability, and operational maturity through automation and process improvements.

  • Support application teams with deployment automation, troubleshooting, and environment optimization.

  • Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive improvements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure and operational practices with organizational goals.

  • Maintain documentation, compliance, and adherence to security standards.

Technical Skills (By Category):

Programming Languages:

  • Required: PowerShell, Bash scripting

  • Preferred: Python, YAML

Databases/Data Management:

  • Preferably familiar with Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, or other cloud-native data solutions

Cloud Technologies:

  • Required: Azure services (Compute, Storage, Networking, Identity, Security)

  • Preferred: Azure Arc, hybrid cloud solutions

Frameworks and Libraries:

  • Not typically applicable; focus on infrastructure and automation tools

Development Tools and Methodologies:

  • Required: Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)

  • Preferred: Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, containerization, microservices architecture

Security Protocols:

  • Required: Azure role-based access control (RBAC), Azure Security Center, compliance standards (ISO, SOC, GDPR)

  • Preferred: Implementation of security policies and guardrails in CI/CD pipelines

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years in Azure cloud platform implementation and DevOps engineering roles

  • Proven experience in designing and managing CI/CD pipelines in Azure environments

  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and cloud automation

  • Strong understanding of Azure security, governance, and compliance standards

  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud operations in regulated environments is advantageous

  • Alternative pathways: Extensive proven experience in DevOps within other cloud ecosystems (AWS, GCP) with strong Azure knowledge

Day-to-Day Activities:

  • Develop and maintain automated deployment pipelines and infrastructure templates

  • Collaborate with development teams to enable seamless CI/CD workflows

  • Monitor platform health, troubleshoot deployment or runtime issues, and implement improvements

  • Conduct regular reviews on security and compliance standards within Azure environments

  • Participate in architectural discussions, impact assessments, and operational planning sessions

  • Maintain clear documentation of infrastructure, deployment procedures, and operational processes

  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance automation and operational standards

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience acceptable

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, AZ-400, or equivalent are preferred

  • Formal training or certifications in cloud security, infrastructure as code, or related areas is advantageous

  • Commitment to continuous professional growth in cloud technologies and DevOps practices
