Your Opportunity

The Regional Operations Manager directs all activities required for manufacturing feed at optimal cost, on schedule and within acceptable quality criteria. Successful interaction with Ingredient Procurement and Nutrition/QA is essential.

Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the financial performance of the departments, including preparing budgets, managing within budget constraints, preparing/approving capital requests and administering the salary plan.

  • Establishes, implements, and monitors an effective preventive maintenance program. Assists in appropriate repair-versus-replace decisions.

  • Strives to achieve best-of-class operating performance. Analyzes performance data and focuses on continuous improvement.

  • Provides proper emphasis to feed quality and QA sampling requirements.

  • Operates the facility in full compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations, i.e. OSHA, FDA, USDA, DWQ. Trains and documents all employee training in these areas.

  • Works effectively with the procurement dept. to ensure adequate inventories of raw materials.

  • Establishes and maintains an effective inventory control program to achieve budgeted shrink targets.

  • Budgets for and manages all financial performance of area.

  • Maintains frequent communication with vendors about progress of repairs and schedule upcoming repairs, i.e. maintenance and preventative maintenance.

  • Develops subordinates or supports contract growers by leading, planning (short and long term), managing, coaching, mentoring and providing a positive professional image at all times.

  • Ensures that the mill working environment is safe, by providing equipment, training, and actions to prevent hazardous conditions by meeting Smithfield-IPS standards.

  • Incumbent will be responsible for understanding and complying with company Environmental, Safety and Biosecurity policies and procedures in the performance of their job duties.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a Business/Agricultural field and 8+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

  • 2+ years experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Mill operating programs

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills

  • Weekend, evening, and holiday work required as needed.

  • Must be on call to work in emergency situations to include but not limited to, power outages or personnel shortages

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Regional Managers are directly responsible for Mill Managers and indirectly responsible for labor and supervisory personnel at their mill sites.

  • Office and mill setting. The mill environment will include working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

  • Must be supportive of the mission of raising swine for human consumption of high-quality pork products.
