ABOUT THE TEAM

NAB Payments Integration team is one of the pillars of NAB’s product functions, and an area of significant strategic focus.  As a Senior Analyst Performance Engineer, you would analyze requirements to identify acceptance criteria and test scenarios, collaborating with the team to develop effective strategies and test plans, test execution to ensure the product meets the requirements and is within the defined quality criteria and standards.

You’ll work in one of multiple squads, collaborating closely with SRE Leads, Developers and Quality Engineers to apply shift left thinking that maximizes non-functional test coverage during development.

The role will span both non-production and production dimensions so that live operational understanding is incorporated into new developments. Occasional out-of-hours work may be required for production-related change or consulting.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working in a Shift-Left test model by providing non-functional test acceptance criteria to Developers ahead of story development commencing

  • Work along with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Solution Engineers to capture non-functional requirements effectively in early stages of major Initiatives

  • Update and maintain documentation for non-Functional requirements (SLAs, TPS, response times, availability) across all microservices & workflows

  • Collaborate with Dev leads, Solution Designers in design review to ensure non-functional needs are incorporated in the solution design well before coding commences

  • Improvise performance testing pipelines at component test level & reduce the feedback loop on tuning needs

  • Implement common performance framework/strategy for all the microservices within Payments TLM team in different development CI/CD phases

  • Working with multiple squads within Payments TLM team, guiding and collaborating to achieve common system performance/availability goals for major initiatives

  • Support SRE team in incident/problem triage to identify root case of the problem related to degradation of system (network, storage, data, etc).

  • Create and update application performance monitoring and alerting dashboards for production and non-production environments

  • Analyse and provide regular application performance insights to leadership teams

  • Develop Splunk/AppD Dashboard capabilities to monitor the performance issues relating to dependent services like network, downstream applications, eventing platform, messaging queues, etc

  • Develop and improve automated resiliency/availability testing capabilities across all microservices

  • Create, update and monitor performance baselines for individual micro services and end to end workflows

  • Perform in depth analysis on performance issues and ownership on tuning

  • Provide tuning guidance & recommendations to other developers to achieve better performance and resilience 

  • Implement or update logging patterns to help creating monitoring dashboards with granular insights on application performance 

  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members in non-functional engineering and suggest best practices


YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Technology and tool experience

    • Must have: Java, Kafka. API, JSON, XML, Cucumber, SQL, Rest, GitHub, Gatling, Postman, JMeter, JBehave/Cucumber, Jenkins, AppD including network monitoring, Rally, Confluence, or functional alternatives to these tools

    • Desirable: MQ, JavaScript, Python, Splunk, Regex, Chaos Monkey/Gremlin

  • Experience in software development and quality engineering experience in multiple environments.

  • Experience coaching integrated teams including developers to ensure systems are designed for reliability, performance, security and testability.

  • Experience in strategic development and implementation of Quality Engineering solutions (Automation Frameworks, Performance Validation).

  • Organizational skills, with focus on Agile/Scrum practices.

  • Interest and experience with the entire application stack; from network, security, through platform OS to application code
