Main Purpose:

We are recruiting for a technical project manager / business analyst to work directly with the traders and research analysts in our trading teams, and our global engineering and related IT functions. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced commercial setting, playing a vital role in a real time, data and software driven trading environment.

Whilst working directly with the trading teams who are based in various global sites such as Geneva, Houston and Singapore, the TPM will be part of the global data science and engineering team who are responsible for the ingestion and management of market and fundamental data, sophisticated modelling techniques, data & analytics applications and solutions.

The TPM will be a business analyst/project manager and responsible for driving various projects and initiatives forward. They will be at the forefront of delivering and enabling cutting edge cloud and software technology stacks. Building end to end software platforms and stacks in a modern and innovation fuelled business.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

  • Prior experience being a senior business analyst, within a financial services or energy trading firm for example an investment bank, hedge fund/asset manager or commodity trading / energy.

  • Experience working with trading / front office environments is a must

  • Experience in commodities is preferable, but if not Equities/FX/Rates/Macro welcome

  • Experience in transformative projects

  • Experience with big data platforms is a nice to have

  • Experience with cloud modernization projects is a nice to have

  • Problem solving and applying software solutions and automation to complex business issues and processes

Key Responsibilities

  • Helping to deliver complex projects within the Commodities trading estate such as within Gas &  Power, Crude & Products, Metals.

  • Business analysis into various areas, problem solving and enabling the engineering teams to deliver successful software for the business globally.

  • Develop functional specifications, analysis into various areas

  • Enable the timely delivery of successful software projects

  • Drive programs across data science and engineering

Competencies:

  • Outstanding communication and ability to interact with a diverse set of partners across business lines and technology

  • Understanding and experience implementing software engineering best practices

  • Ability to tackle problems under pressure

  • Ability to effectively prioritise tasks of high importance

Key Relationships and Department Overview:

The Data Science and Engineering team researches, develops, and provides sophisticated analytics and data services and applications to the trading business, and other commercial operations at Trafigura.

Trafigura’s teams handle both physical and derivative portfolios. The team heavily relies on data, analysis and process automation. They are looking to work with someone who can develop an understanding of their business and ultimately take ownership for a variety of technical applications and processes on the desk
