The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank (CBA) customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. As the Senior Cyber Platform Engineer, you be joining the Cyber Defence and Security Integration Crew, a part of the wider Group Security Technology function, which provides security controls and services that are utilised across the Group. This crew is responsible for the delivery of effective security services and continuous assurance over enterprise security controls within the bank and across the Group’s entities.

As an organisation with numerous online applications, we need to protect ourselves from all types of online attacks, which are increasing in frequency every day. Our role is to provide security services and products to our key business stakeholders ensuring we protect CBA customers from internal and external threats.

Your impact and contribution:

  • Design, develop, and maintain platforms and tools across our cyber defence and security integration services.

  • Design and implement technology solutions and integration across a wide range of cyber security platforms and services including App Security, Endpoint Security, and Threat Analytics & Response Tech (TART).

  • Support our BAU services including on-call rotations.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve stability issues to increase system resilience and stability.

  • Listen to the users of the platform and intuitively evolve the platform to deliver even better experiences.

  • Share your knowledge and create documentation that is easy to read and understand.

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers on the team.

We’re interested in hearing from people who: 

  • Are proficient in solution design and can support our various cyber defence and integrations service including EDR, NDR and XDR.

  • Can provided cloud platform expertise e.g. Azure and or AWS (essential).

  • Providing experience across platform security engineering with a key focus on cloud and security infrastructure (essential).

  • Understand intrusion detection and prevention systems e.g Corelight, Exabeam (UBA) etc.

  • Understand a variety of SIEM and SOAR tools and or services e.g Splunk, Sentinel, DTEX etc.

  • Have cloud certifications in AWS.

  • Are familiar with DevSecOps methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Can provided Cyber Governance and Risk / compliance e.g ISO 27001, NIST, CSP etc. expertise.

  • Have previous experience in scripting e.g Powershell, Bash etc (regarded but not essential).

  • Bring professional certifications such as CISSP, information security, information technology, risk management or equivalent discipline (highly desirable).
