Apollo Insurance Solutions Group (“ISG”) seeks an Associate Director for its El Segundo based headquarters.  This is a position in a recently established Deal and Insurance Advisory Group that has been tasked with facilitating the structuring of private credit deals and assisting up- and downstream functional teams with onboarding private credit deals into ISG’s systems. This position will work closely with investment professionals and various (senior) stakeholders across the firm to support and drive processes around private credit deals. This position will be involved in the end-to-end deal lifecycle; from deal pipeline tracking, to deal structuring, and pre- and post-close.

Since this position is on a newly established team, this role also involves working with various (senior) stakeholders on identifying areas for improvement in activities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the group. It is therefore expected that this position will collaborate with a wide group of stakeholders to draft recommendations on how to transform the team’s objectives and approach in a strategical and tactical manner (including the leveraging of technology platforms).

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy.

  • Undertake special projects or initiatives under the wider investment accounting pillar as assigned by senior management. This may involve analyzing potential investments, implementing new accounting standards, system migrations and/or participating in strategic planning efforts.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA) preferred.

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in public accounting or in industry with an investment accounting and/or investment structuring role.

  • Considered to be a SME that can dive into and quickly resolve any issues/anomalies relating to income, amortization/accretion, book value changes, and cash flows.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and strong interpersonal skills; ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team ability to mentor and teach staff/senior accountants across all aspects of investment accounting functions (income, controls, analysis/review procedures).

  • Experience working with (senior) stakeholders, investment professionals and external clients.

  • Exhibits organizational finesse in a demanding and fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrates sound judgement with problem escalation and self-directed resolution.

  • Ability to liaise and communicate effectively across all business units at the firm, from investment team professionals to external parties.

  • Analytical and solution-oriented mindset with a strong focus on problem solving.
