About the Team

Safety/Security Mgmt: Manages the development, planning and implementation of company industrial safety programs and the administrative supervision of the security organization. Develops safety policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and handles all contact with the appropriate agencies. Provides protection for personnel and company property. May arrange for extra protection for key employees. Develops, implements, and maintains security procedures to meet required codes and regulations. Analyzes loss control and accident reports. Prepares and maintains all required security manuals. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

About the Role

The Manager, Safety & Security, India is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and operation of Safety and Physical Security on behalf of the Global Workplace Safety (GWS) team. Key areas of responsibility include occupational health and safety, transportation, personnel and facility security. This position is based in Chennai, India, and reports to the Director, Safety & Physical Security Operations, Americas & APJ in Pleasanton, USA.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the development, oversight, supervision, and deployment of Workday safety operations programs, processes and systems within Chennai, India, with a focus on mitigating safety risk to Workday’s human, information and physical assets.

  • Responsible for oversight, supervision and management of the outsourced contract transportation services for eligible employees, including responsibility for safe and reliable delivery of all related services.

  • Responsible for oversight, supervision and management of the outsourced contract security guard force to include patrol specialists, Security Operators, logistical/transportation support and all other contract security guard force personnel.

  • Assists the Director of Security Operations of GWS in improving overall safety performance by implementing programs at the India office to ensure a safe workplace and to emphasize safe work habits.

  • Aids and supports Employee Health & Safety Manager by identifying risk of and recommending solutions to, unsafe working conditions.

  • Assists in development, implementation and supervision of operational strategic and tactical planning and in coordination of the safety function aligning with GWS objectives.

  • Assists in providing safety direction and leadership to our Indian offices, supporting the safety business plan, and maintaining close business relationships with HQ leaders

  • Partners with business group managers, including Real Estate and Workplace, Development, Design, Network Engineering, Operations, Information Security, Privacy, Ethics & Compliance, Legal, Finance, HR, and law enforcement.

  • Prepares drafts of proposed procedures for GWS Sr. management consideration.

  • Oversees the creation and implementation of all documentation, policies, and procedures that support the Global Security Operation Center(s).

  • Supports the Security Systems team as a contributor supporting security design projects for the India region.

  • Contributes to financial targets/budgets processes.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience working in corporate safety and/or security with at least two of those years in a managerial or supervisory role.

  • BA/BS degree in business, management, criminal justice, or an equivalent combination of education, military, law enforcement, safety or security related experience.

Other Qualifications:

  • Experience operating in a matrix environment, with experience in project management strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated management of people (and/or people through vendor relationships), projects, and relationships. 

  • Demonstrated analytical skills necessary for the collation of data and the production of safety management statistics as applied in a corporate setting.

  • Demonstrated technical depth and breadth of knowledge of safety and management concepts.

  • Possess strong technical depth and breadth of knowledge of safety and management concepts.

  • Proven track record to influence, supervise and lead others, to tackle complex and sensitive problems, and thrive in a fast-paced environment!

  • Preferably has corporate cultural awareness

  • Will oversee one contractor (focused on managing contractors)

Full on-site presence is required 5 days a week.


Occasional travel may be required.
