Head of Avast Growth (Director)
Director, Avast Growth, CSM
Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and innovative Head of Growth to drive revenue expansion across our Avast and AVG freemium product portfolio. In this senior leadership role based in Prague, you will own all monetization efforts for tens of millions of users – from in-product upsells and cross-sell campaigns to pricing and email marketing. Reporting to the VP of Customer Success Management and leading a global team of growth managers, you will define and execute a comprehensive growth strategy that delivers on ambitious revenue targets while enhancing the user experience.
This is a high-impact role at the heart of our freemium business. You will build a scalable, AI-powered growth engine and spearhead the early growth strategy for a new flagship product, establishing user activation, engagement, and monetization patterns that can scale globally. We expect you to bring a fresh, product-led growth perspective – innovating on how we deliver value to users at every stage while unlocking sustainable per-user revenue growth. The ideal candidate is people-first and data-driven, with deep expertise in subscription monetization and a proven ability to translate complex insights into clear action for cross-functional teams and executives. If you are excited about elevating our growth approach with cutting-edge strategies that balance short-term results and long-term customer trust, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Own Monetization & Revenue Growth: Full ownership of freemium monetization performance across in-app upsells, cross-sell offers, email campaigns, pricing, and package merchandising. Set and deliver on monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets, using data-driven insights to identify opportunities in user funnels and segments.
Develop Growth Strategy: Define and implement an overarching growth strategy for the Avast/AVG portfolio. Align cross-functional teams (Product, Marketing/User Acquisition, Finance, Data/AI, etc.) around growth priorities and commercial outcomes. Communicate clear plans, performance updates, and investment needs to senior leadership, ensuring accountability for results.
Drive New Product Growth: Lead the growth strategy for our new “hero” product. Establish and test user activation, engagement, and monetization tactics in early stages. Use experimentation to validate hypotheses and convert learnings into scalable playbooks for global rollout, laying the foundation for this product’s long-term growth.
Team Leadership: Hire, develop, and manage a high-performing global growth team. Foster a culture of ownership, transparency, and rapid experimentation. Mentor team members and build depth in strategic and analytical skills. Encourage collaboration across geographies and functions, and ensure the team executes with focus and speed.
Experimentation & Innovation: Operate a rigorous growth experimentation program. Design and run structured A/B tests and multivariate experiments on pricing, bundling, offers, and user engagement triggers with statistical discipline and clear hypotheses. Partner with Product and Data Science teams to accelerate test-and-learn cycles, including leveraging AI/ML for predictive targeting, personalized offers, and real-time decision engines. Continuously translate experiment insights into tangible product and revenue improvements.
Customer-Centric Growth: Champion a value-driven, customer-centric approach to monetization. Co-design lifecycle guardrails (e.g. rules for when to upsell or not) with Retention and Lifecycle Marketing teams to balance short-term revenue with long-term user satisfaction. Ensure growth initiatives enhance user trust – avoiding over-messaging or introducing friction – so that monetization efforts also support strong engagement and retention.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with key stakeholders across the organization. Partner with Product teams to integrate growth requirements into the user experience and optimize conversion flows (e.g. onboarding and checkout). Collaborate with Central Marketing and User Acquisition on aligning top-of-funnel efforts with downstream monetization. Coordinate with Finance on forecasting, reporting, and scenario planning. Build and maintain strong relationships across global teams to drive unified execution of growth plans.
Accountability for Results: Take full accountability for growth KPIs and revenue outcomes. Lead regular business reviews (monthly/quarterly) to report performance, insights, risks, and opportunities. Ensure operational excellence from idea generation through to rollout – delivering predictable, measurable growth and meeting commitments to the business.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Extensive Growth Leadership Experience: 10+ years of experience in growth, monetization, subscription product management, or digital revenue roles, with a strong track record of driving revenue and user growth.
Global Team Management: Demonstrated success in leading and scaling multi-disciplinary teams across different countries/regions. Proven people leadership skills, with an ability to inspire, mentor, and develop talent.
Expertise in Optimization & Analytics: Deep knowledge of A/B testing, conversion funnel optimization, and pricing/bundling strategies. Highly analytical and data-driven mindset – able to interpret complex user data and business metrics to inform strategy (experience with BI tools for data analysis is a plus).
Cross-Functional Influence: Proven ability to collaborate and influence across departments. Experience working closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing/CRM, Data Science, and Finance leaders to drive initiatives forward in a matrixed environment.
Strategic Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills. Able to simplify complex analyses and growth insights into clear, compelling narratives for executive and non-technical audiences. Capable of aligning diverse stakeholders around a common growth vision.
Execution & Ownership: Strong bias for action and operational rigor. You “own the numbers” and have a history of delivering results through disciplined execution, while also being adaptable and innovative when solving problems.
Preferred Qualifications
Industry Background: Experience in a freemium consumer software or subscription-based business, especially at scale, is highly valued. Familiarity with product-led growth models and driving user monetization in a freemium context.
AI-Driven Growth: Exposure to AI-powered personalization or predictive modeling in a growth or marketing context. Comfort working with data science teams to implement machine learning-driven initiatives (e.g. recommendation engines, propensity models) is a plus.
Product-Led Growth & Transformation: Hands-on involvement in driving product-led growth initiatives or leading large-scale product/monetization transformations. Ability to navigate change and implement new growth frameworks within an organization.
Matrixed Organization Experience: Thrives in a global, matrixed corporate environment. Adept at managing complexity, with the agility to work across multiple teams, time zones, and business units.
