Job Description:

In Ferrovial we are looking for Cloud Architects with specialization and strong experience in Azure and AWS Cloud. We are looking for a Senior professional with a track record to face different types of technical solutions and patterns.

Functions:

Reporting to the Architect Manager of Ferrovial, you will:

  • Strategy:
    • Provide strategic influence across groups, projects and products based on Azure Cloud and AWS to implement cost-effective technology solutions to solve complex business problems.
    • Align your technical vision and approach with best practices from the industry (Microsoft, Amazon).
    • Demonstrate leadership ability to back decisions with research and the “why,” and articulate several options, the pros and cons for each, and a recommendation.
  • Delivery:
    • Propose, scope, design and implement various cloud architectural solutions, ready to be used in different initiatives for private, public and hybrid cloud models, including IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services.
    • Provide flexible and interoperable solutions, easy to grow and be integrated with other systems, even on-premise ones.
    • Ensure delivered solutions meet/perform to technical and functional/non-functional requirements
    • Help increase system performance with a focus on high availability and automatic scalability.
    • Use containers to package your reference architectures to deploy them anywhere.
    • Create scripts to automate the deployment of those artifacts.
    • Lead proofs of concept with external partners to test new solutions or components.
    • Contribute to DevSecOps development activities and complex development tasks.
    • Provide technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service owners
  • Standards:
    • Strengthen architectures applying security standards in coordination with the security team.
    • Ensure that agreed standards and working practices are followed, highlight any non-conformance with agreed standards and working practices with the head of architecture and promote an environment that encourages collaboration, team working and innovation both within the Architecture Team and across IT and other teams.
    • Decide which security standards should be applied, depending on the users’ location, the type of data being managed and the regulatory conditions.  Be aligned with the security team to ensure security compliance.
    • Document, evolve and evangelize multiple areas through the creation of common guidelines.
  • Innovation:
    • Keep up to date with new trends, technologies, solutions and patterns and propose new components, when needed.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with multiple development teams to accelerate their delivery through the creation of a common architecture center with artifacts, templates and guidelines to be consumed across multiple areas and business units.
    • Engage in concept discussions, proposed technology solutions, to meet business objectives.
    • Engage with senior leadership and project stakeholders to articulate opportunities, costs, and risks associated with decisions made around the platform architecture and implementation.
    • Provide expert guidance to delivery teams for complex challenges or business-critical systems, acting as an internal consultant.
    • Share your take-aways with others, communicating fluently with others to facilitate the comprehension and adoption of best practices and enterprise artifacts.

Requirements:

  • University degree: Higher Engineering (Computer Science, Telecommunications or similar)
  • At least 5-years’ experience in Solution or Enterprise Architecture.
  • At least 3-years’ experience in delivering Azure and AWS solutions.
  • A proven track record of working as a Azure & AWS Architect delivering successful migration/greenfield projects.
  • Experience in Cloud design, strategy and architecture related activities.
  • Proficient in designing, building and deploying infrastructure at a complex level.
  • A broad understanding of the latest developments in technologies, industry specific issues, competitor and vendor activity and initiatives.
  • Architecture-Design: Cloud-native and Cloud-ready applications (API-enabled, containerization)
  • Cloud-native application development (PaaS, Serverless technology, API management, microservices).
  • At least 1 related Cloud Certification in Azure and valuable also in AWS.
  • Ability to present technical materials effectively to diverse stakeholder groups and to engage effectively with executives on both technical and non-technical matters.
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on translating business requirements into technology solutions.
  • Experience on automation (e.g. Ansible, Jenkins, etc.) and IaC (Deployment Manager, Terraform), DevSecOps, version control (e.g. Git), CI/CD (e.g. Jenkins, or TFS, or Travis CI), containers (e.g. Docker, kubernetes or OpenShift).
  • Python, Java, PHP, JavaScript experience will be highly appreciated.
  • Demonstrated ability in technology partner management practices including the ability to lead vendors/partners in defining architectures.
  • Essential very high level / bilingual English.
