Compliance provides the Group’s foundations for leading customer outcomes and regulatory compliance.

You will be joining the high-performing CommBank Business Banking (BB) Compliance team at an extremely exciting time as you will be supporting CommBank’s ambitious growth agenda for the Business Bank. You will be joining an established but expanding team which is seen as a crucial business partner for BB. Reporting directly to the Executive Manager, Business Customer Compliance, you will provide Line 2 Regulatory Compliance support working closely with our Line 1 teams.

Do work that matters

The Business Banking Business Customer Compliance Team is dedicated to the provision of proactive, solution-based support and advice. The team supports Business Banking’s frontline Distribution segments who interact with BB customers ranging from small businesses, regional, agribusiness and commercial customers as well as listed companies in our Major Client Group. The team also provides Compliance support for BB’s ESG and scam initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing insightful advice to Business Banking teams regarding regulatory and compliance obligations applicable to their business activities.
  • Supporting Line 1 to identify and comply with regulatory obligations (excluding Financial Crime related obligations) and licensing requirements.
  • Providing Compliance policy advice, independent review, challenge, direction and training;
  • Developing and continuously improving policies, procedures, tools and practices for effectively managing regulatory risk;  
  • Investigating and overseeing Issue Management, Incident Management, the implementation of Regulatory Change, supporting regulatory reporting and engagement and Obligations Management.
  • Implement and embed framework changes across the Group by gaining appropriate buy-in and sign-off and building excellent stakeholder relationships.
  • Contributing to and assisting the Executive Manager Business Customer Compliance on regular reporting to governance forums on key Compliance Management activities and insights into compliance trends.
  • Through on the job training and coaching from your manager, developing your skills on persuading and influencing, being a credible partner, providing insights and judgement, and effective challenge.

  • Who are driven and talented individuals with a background in financial services and risk management. 
  • With a sound knowledge of licensing and regulatory obligations, with specific knowledge in Business Banking desirable.
  • Who have good insights and judgement, with a working knowledge of risks, obligations and issues that impact customers.
  • With an ability to deliver arguments logically and succinctly with a sincere and honest nature.
  • With excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively and interact/advise in verbal/written communications at all stakeholder levels.
  • With ability to prioritise, schedule and meet challenging deadlines with autonomy and self-sufficiency.
  • A willingness to learn, an inquisitive and open mind and a collaborative working style.
