JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary Role Objective(s)

To carry out all activities assigned to ensure that production targets in terms of quality, quantity & volume are attained, and that weekly and monthly instrument/equipment maintenance is performed on time and sufficient instrument consumables are present in each lab.

Reporting Line

This position reports to the relevant department/area Team Leader or Manager

Major Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform all duties assigned by Team/Unit Leader
• Chemical Dispensing & material staging for DRO solutions
• Staging of equipment required for DRO Solution Manufacture
• Staging of temperature sensitive materials (frozen & 2-8°C) & management of applicable storage units
• Perform Weekly and Monthly maintenance for Architect instruments
• Perform maintenance for lab equipment as required.
• Instrument consumables management
• Purchasing of non-inventory items as required
• Laboratory waste management
• Sample management & execution of sampling activities
• Chemical Dispensing & material staging for BRO solutions
• Staging tank room process orders as required
• Salt Conditioning and Dispensing for BRO solutions
• Perform all material movements (physical & electronic) as required
• Conduct material control in line with procedural requirements 
• Complete and comply with all documentation as required in the dispensing process
• Adhere to all Good Manufacturing requirements
• Support Continuous Improvement initiatives
• Complete all activities in a safe manner ensuring that any potential safety issues and areas for improvement are highlighted to manager
• Perform daily PIT inspections as required
• Ensure that activities are completed within budgeted guidelines e.g., waste levels, per plan requirements
• Training of new employees
• Adhere to all relevant Operating Procedures
• Revising OP's and other documentation as appropriate
• Assist in and become involved in cost saving ideas
• Perform line clearances and line close outs

• Perform computer applications as required

EHS Requirement

• Conduct business in a safe manner that will protect human health, safety, and the environment by complying with all applicable EHS laws, as well as the Abbott Global & Technical Standards.
• Ensure Environmental procedures e.g., recycling, waste minimisation is adhered to, and improvements made where possible

Interpersonal Skills

Ability to interact with other departments within the plant and also members of various teams.

Problem Solving

• Operates in an environment that is not closely supervised.
• Expected to handle all day-to-day dispensing, Instrument/equipment maintenance, lab consumables and staging issues. However, if a major problem occurs, the Support Technician will confer with their Support Services Team/Unit Leader.

Management and/or Leadership Responsibilities

No supervisory responsibilities associated with this position

Accountability

Is responsible for ensuring that proper procedures are adhered to, failure to do so could result in financial losses.

Scope of Authority

Individual is given authority to carry out duties without constant supervision. Formal goals are reviewed on a regular basis and formal performance reviews are carried out once per year.

Education

Minimum Leaving Certificate or equivalent

Experience

Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is essential. This experience will provide a basic understanding of the disciplines and techniques required for the position.
