This role offers a hybrid work schedule; offering the flexibility to work remotely two days a week, while providing the opportunity for in-person collaboration at our Buffalo, NY Tech Hub.
Overview:
The Strategic Initiatives Manager will work within the Divisions of Technology and Enterprise Data and manage a number of key initiatives, including supporting critical Division-wide cross-functional projects related to strategic objectives of the Bank, improving risk management and ensuring efficiency/sustainability of core processes. More specifically, given heightened demand across many critical areas (risk, regulatory, governance), this leader will drive:
Administration and Planning on behalf of Technology & Enterprise Data divisions.
Executive Support delivering strategic reporting and consulting to CIO’s and Technology Senior leaders
Routine Management for strategic initiatives including OKR’s, value chain, etc.
Managing priorities for Tech against the critical initiatives list in collaboration with other Technology Strategic Operation teams
Ensures Governance model is adhered to across Technology Division and Strategic Operations organization
Primary Responsibilities:
Administration & Planning - Lead efforts to define scope and sequencing approach for the Strategic Operations organization. This includes managing organization routines, organizing and managing to objectives and key results (OKRs), managing high demand of time sensitive work across the division.
Executive Support – Manage the delivery of strategic reporting (e.g., Annual Tech Strategy Report to Board of Directors, Executive Leadership Reporting) working directly with CIO and Senior Leadership across the Technology and Data organization. Engages directly with CIO and Senior Leadership to consult on key initiatives and strategy determining how to best support leaders in strategy delivery.
Governance - Ensures Technology and Data governance model and outcomes are managed effectively across the organization. This leader will design and manage to an accountability plan to ensure our organization is aligning to our governance model.
Direct complex, critical, and highly visible projects for Technology Divisions. This includes prioritization efforts and program management.
Provide analytical expertise to support critical Bank-wide or divisional initiatives that may include planning, design and analysis of results, presenting content at various functions, developing comprehensive content/materials, analyzing complex data sets, and/or analyzing and optimizing data structures.
Consider stakeholder perspectives, help build consensus, address objections, help develop solutions, and drive action.
Engage with senior management (internal/external) on a regular basis to obtain pertinent information. Serve as liaison between the Division and stakeholders on various projects and routines. Work within the organization and gain and understanding of the perspectives of others.
Manage a small team including training, development and performance management of team members.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience
Minimum of 2 years’ managerial experience
Experience working in an agile environment
Excellent analytical ability including using data to tell a story
Creative problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to built rapport and influence senior leadership
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated, results driven, and well organized
Ability to effortlessly build PowerPoint decks and other data visualizations
Experience handling multiple tasks and working under time constraints in support of various assignments
Experience thriving in a fast-paced, ever- changing environment
The ability to work in a hybrid environment, reporting to Seneca One, Buffalo, NY a minimum of 3 days per week
Education and Experience Preferred:
Banking/financial industry experience
