Under general direction, works as a first-level manager. As a Model Portfolios Product Manager, you will serve as a critical contributor of the Wealth Management product management team at Capital Group (CG) with dedication to all model portfolio product suites and capabilities identified as being instrumental to helping increase CG’s models presence.
Primary responsibilities include supporting model portfolios products, assessing product and capability gaps, and delivering on business plan commitments. You will contribute to product strategy and got-to-market planning of new and existing model solutions and provide business acumen support, both internally and externally. Executes on a comprehensive strategy and roadmap for product(s) or offering component(s). Ensures that model portfolios are appropriately positioned, and the product strategy is effectively executed.
In this role, you can expect:
- Supports day to day functionality of all CG core and custom model offerings.
- Identifies and develops product initiatives to address product gaps.
- Brings forward and recommends new ideas for consideration to support product strategy and roadmap.
- Assimilates voice of customer and business feedback in collaboration with sales team and investment group.
- Contributes to the design and development of product strategies, including execution.
- Provides input and expertise to business partners during project design, development, and execution phases.
- Influences product direction by recommending forward-looking strategies; considers CG priorities, market trends, and prioritized projects/initiatives.
- Understands various products in the market, as well as competitive and regulatory trends, to ensure CG is delivering an viable product; recommends changes to strategy, as appropriate.
- Develops and executes product-level business plans.
- Participates in cross-functional and product governance forums to review product ideas, assess viability of product changes, operational efficiencies, and ensure organizational alignment around product direction.
- Support business partners in the creation of compelling business cases, considering customer impacts.
- Defines success measures and adoption goals; evaluates results relative to business case.
- Guides business partners through issues of higher complexity and advises on standard and best practices; escalates issues or concerns to senior managers, as appropriate.
- Ensures the effective execution of investment group-led decisions regarding enhancements to model portfolios.
- Serves as a subject matter expert and consults with various internal groups (e.g., sales, service, and external clients) regarding product inquiries and enhancement requests.
- Approves functional project requirements.
- Manages initiatives to execute and support the model portfolios, initiated by the investment group.
- Mitigates risks based on project interdependencies and recommends actions to ensure successful rollout of enhancements.
- Coordinates with functional teams to execute on product enhancements.
- Supports senior product managers in the creation, analysis and development of product plans, business cases, and performance reports.
- Manages the day-to-day of the individual product(s) and in-market offering component(s).

- Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills with all contacts, including senior leadership.
- 5-7+ years of related investment management industry experience
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
- In-office presence require 3 days per week (Tuesday-Thursday) and WFH two days per week.
- Travel approximately 25% of the time.
- Office Location: Los Angeles.
Southern California Base Salary Range: $148,045-$236,872
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
