The Consumer Identity Services (CIS) team provides critical consumer facing access and identification services across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) business units. Nearly every digital consumer experience across the company relies on CIS for mission critical business operations, including booking Disney Parks and Resort vacations, playing ESPN Fantasy Football, buying products from Shop Disney and many more. These identity services are responsible for over 300 million guest and fan accounts, and billions of transactions per year.
 

As part of the team, you will be tackling cutting edge issues that come with cloud-based infrastructures, platform resiliency requirements, security, and data migrations at scale. These challenges are regularly given on tight timelines, and we are looking for experienced engineering team members able to make the right decisions and drive them to execution. This position will serve as a primary contributor on the team as well as help the team navigate the changing technology landscape. Senior level positions are a key element of our team’s composition as they serve as initiative leads and problem solvers.
 

Responsibilities:

• Lead projects where you’ll work closely with engineering and product teams to scope and distill product requirements into design and technical specifications.

• Write, maintain, standardize and enforce code quality through test driven development.

• Architect and Design new solutions, innovate on POCs, and drive initiatives to optimize our tech stack while providing documentation and guidance to other engineers.

• Support live event coverage and triage issues that come in to ensure an optimal experience for our global audience

• Key contributor to project needs and the evolution of the team’s practices, recommending changes in development, coding, maintenance and system standards.

• Applies experiences and exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques to identify, resolve, and develop solutions to a variety of sophisticated tasks involving architectural application changes.

• Supports and mentor’s junior developers through code reviews, knowledge-sharing, and technical leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

• BS degree in computer science or equivalent work experience

• 5+ years experience building highly scalable and performant web applications serving millions of users and requests.

• Experience architecting sophisticated technical changes, to knowledge-share, and get consensus for their solutions.

• Advanced understanding of frontend web development technologies and principles

• Mastery of JavaScript, and JS frameworks (Next.js or React)

• Proven track record to define and implement API specifications while collaborating with multiple service teams across globe

• Exhibits emotional intelligence, supervising oneself under high pressure situations and meets urgent timelines.

• Ability to support and mentor junior developers by building trust, identifying goals, encouraging, instructing, and providing constructive feedback.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Mastery of Next.js

• Expert understanding of web accessibility fundamentals

• Experience leading project end-to-end.

• Expansive industry knowledge with regard to web standards and new technologies

The hiring range for this position in Seattle is $142,600 – $191,100 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
