What we are looking for:

Reporting to the Head, Global Compliance Program Office, this role is an exciting opportunity to be a part of Fiera Capital’s ongoing establishment and execution of a globally consistent compliance program framework. The successful candidate – working with other members of the Global Compliance Program Office, compliance team members in jurisdictions around the world, and various business stakeholders – will execute a consistent compliance testing framework. Testing work will be focused on global and local controls, with a goal of establishing testing best practices and excellence that can be adopted and scaled.

We are looking for an individual who is willing to accept and meet challenges head on, working with other compliance and businesspeople across the global enterprise. The successful candidate is willing to embrace change, examine complex problems and promote more efficient and better ways of achieving results.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Executing tasks, including documenting and testing compliance controls (including global controls) in support of a globally consistent regulatory compliance framework;
  • Proactively engaging with, and advising, Fiera Capital team members on all matters concerning Fiera Capital’s Global Compliance Program framework, including controls monitoring and testing, compliance issues management, regulatory compliance risk assessment, regulatory change management, and regulatory compliance reporting;
  • Continuously reviewing, and based on feedback from compliance and business stakeholders, proposing improvements to the Global Compliance Program’s technology solution;
  • Developing and maintaining a good working knowledge of Canadian compliance regulations (National Instruments, Securities Acts, AML/ATF, Privacy, etc.) and expanding that knowledge globally to other jurisdictions where Fiera Capital operates; and
  • Staying current with applicable industry standards, regulatory compliance best practices and emerging compliance issues in the investment management industry.

Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. (Finance, business administration, law, accounting, etc.);
  • At least three years of experience related to regulatory compliance or internal auditing in the field of investment management;
  • knowledge of the investment management industry and its regulators in Canada. Experience in the USA, UK, Europe or Asia is an asset;
  • Awareness of the regulatory framework and investment management industry best practices;
  • Knowledge of compliance controls pertaining to global investment managers, including compliance control testing;
  • Ability to work independently and interact effectively with others;
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
  • Ability to exercise diligence, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with confidential information;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong analytical thinking and critical reasoning skills with a strong attention to detail;
  • Coding ability, or a technologically inclined (Artificial Intelligence) curiosity is an asset; and
  • Proficient with MS Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Visio.
