ROLE SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA ABAP Technical Lead with 7–10 years of progressive experience in SAP ABAP development and technical leadership. In this role, you will lead a team of developers, own end-to-end technical delivery across SAP S/4HANA programs, and act as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and the development team. You will be responsible for solution architecture, code governance, mentoring, and ensuring delivery quality across complex, multi-module SAP landscapes.
The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise in core ABAP, S/4HANA-specific technologies (CDS, AMDP, OData, RAP), strong team leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering large-scale SAP implementations or migrations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Leadership & Architecture
Own and drive the end-to-end technical design for ABAP workstreams in S/4HANA programs
Prepare and review High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documents
Evaluate build vs. reuse decisions, set coding standards, and enforce best practices
Lead architectural decisions for HANA push-down, CDS modelling, and API design
Conduct solution walkthroughs with functional consultants, architects, and client stakeholders
Team Management & Mentoring
Lead, guide, and mentor a team of 3-6 ABAP developers (onshore and offshore)
Plan and allocate work packages, track progress, and resolve technical blockers
Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development discussions
Drive knowledge-sharing sessions, internal tech talks, and documentation culture
Onboard new team members and define ramp-up plans for junior developers
Core ABAP & S/4HANA Development
Hands-on development and review of complex ABAP programs, enhancements, and interfaces
Design and build CDS Views (analytical, consumption, interface) with proper annotations
Develop and optimize AMDP / SQLScript procedures for HANA push-down logic
Create and govern OData V2/V4 services via SEGW and RAP framework
Implement and review BADIs, User Exits, Enhancement Spots, and Switch Framework
Integration, Interfaces & Data Migration
Design BAPI/RFC-based integrations, IDoc/ALE configurations, and EDI scenarios
Lead technical design of REST/SOAP APIs and SAP Integration Suite (CPI) flows
Own data migration strategy using LSMW, BDC, BAPI, and LTMC/LTMOM tools
Collaborate with middleware, basis, and functional teams for end-to-end integration testing
Delivery, Quality & Governance
Establish and enforce code review processes, unit testing standards, and transport governance
Perform performance analysis using SE30, SAT, ST05, and HANA SQL Analyzer
Manage cutover activities, go-live readiness, and post-production hypercare
Prepare effort estimates, technical risk assessments, and change request analysis
Ensure compliance with SAP naming conventions, transport management, and audit requirements
