WHAT YOU’LL DO


The R&D Engineer will provide mechanical engineering leadership within a vibrant, high-performing R&D team that is redefining the treatment of structural heart disease. S/he will primarily lead the mechanical design/test activities of an electro-mechanical system in early stage-development and support other workstreams as needed.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Strong familiarity with mechanical design fundamentals: stress/deflection analysis, fatigue analysis, material selection, coatings/plating’s, thermodynamics, etc.
  • Proficiency in common mechanical CAD tools such as Solidworks, CREO and configuration management databases such as Windchill.
  • Component and assembly design involving molded, stamped, machined components.
  • Experience in developing, authoring, testing and managing mechanical design requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines (e.g., electrical, software, systems) to drive towards milestones.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s or PhD Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Biomedical Engineering or similar.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485, 14971, etc.
  • Proficiency in GD&T and ability to read/author prints per ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience in developing capital equipment design/development as part of a family of medical devices subject to global regulatory regulations.
  • Familiarity in design for biocompatibility and sterilization.
  • Experience in Design-for-Reliability principles, reliability testing and accelerated aging studies.
  • Experienced in the contiguous phases of the medical device development from early feasibility and VOC through development, test, commercial launch, and post-market support.
  • Proficiency in statistical methods such as DOE, hypothesis testing, distribution fit, etc.
  • Proficiency in DFMEA processes/principles.
  • Knowledge and application of systems engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience in first-in-human and pivotal clinical trials.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with cardiac anatomy and interventional cardiology.

     

The base pay for this position is

$57,300.00 – $114,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
