Position Summary:
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager is responsible for institutionalizing a culture and building out a program of CI and learning across Pulsafeeder (Rochester & Punta Gorda locations) with a focus on applying the concepts of Lean, Six Sigma, & problem solving. Collaborating and communicating with cross-functional teams to drive results and gain hard savings across the organization. The CI Manager will create advantage by standardizing methods in all processes and implementing improvement through elimination of waste and improving production capability. The CI Manager is a leader of leaders, driving results, and problem solvers & change agents across the site locations & ultimately the organization. Competitive candidates will also be Subject Matter Experts for data analytics using tools to continue to integrate data visualization. The CI Manager trains and develops internal resources to support continuous improvements using the Toyota Kata framework to implement visual standards, Lean countermeasures (i.e., Kanban, 5S, Value Stream Mapping [VSM]).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design the Continuous Improvement Program across Pulsafeeder
Lead the Continuous Improvement culture and activities across the organization in a way that shows productivity savings, hard savings and advances the organization towards future growth opportunities.
Create an environment where employees participate in driving improvement and become scalable talent.
Mentor & coach project leaders in proper use and application of Lean, Six Sigma, & problem-solving concepts
Coordinate and deliver CI training (i.e., 8 Waste, VSM, 6S, Problem Solving, RCCMs and an understanding of the Order to Cash Value Streaming process)
Facilitate the flow of information sharing of best practices and external benchmarks
Develop advanced dashboards and reports for different segments of business – Commercial, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, and other areas for both Punta Gorda and Rochester sites
Apply Lean, Six Sigma and problem solving to both the manufacturing and transactional environments
Drive Rapid Improvement Events (RIE, Kaizens) across all sites, including preparation, follow-up, and development of future RIE leaders
Manage all improvements happening at the sites, identifies, tracks and reports metrics to demonstrate the positive results achieved through continuous improvement efforts
Identify and conduct key training needed to move the CI culture forward
Manage the site value stream maps and use them to drive future improvement activities across sites. Identify new projects with team through value stream mapping and data analysis. Support and lead value stream mapping sessions.
Work with suppliers & customers as identified on improvements in the extended value stream (VA/VE)
Ensure the sites will deliver the targeted improvements & impact annually, per the productivity & CI funnel
Ensure improvements are aligned with the strategic direction for the organization
Job Qualifications:
A solid track record of performance in Operations, Manufacturing and/or CI
Strong cost savings, problem solving, quantitative/analytical and influencing skills
Proven experience of building strong teams, creating a culture of trust and driving business excellence
Strong written and verbal communication skills to motivate teams and work efficiently cross-functionally
J.D. Edwards or other MRP/ERP system experience required
Education/Critical Experiences:
B.S. or equivalent experience, preferably in Continuous Improvement, business process development, and/or Engineering
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with hands on implementation of Lean Six Sigma, and problem-solving tools.
Proficiency in Toyota Kata and Transactional Process Improvement
Experience in leading teams and getting results through others
Analytical ability to assess and resolve technical problems while relating to others
Excellent communication and people skills
Competency in data analytics (for example, PowerBI and Business Objects), creation of a Savings Funnel and statistical methods
Extensive knowledge of CI tools (PDCA, Gemba Walks, 5 Whys, etc.) and Lean Six Sigma methodologies
Change Management proficiency
Expert Excel skills required
Ability to travel up to 25 - 50% to support business sites, customers, & suppliers
Relocation will be considered. Position compensation starts at $100,000. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
