Position Summary...

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. What you'll do...

The core focus of Traffic Platform is to develop and implement new innovative software solutions, which scale significantly with business demand and enhance Walmart's cloud platforms. We take pride in developing, maintaining and enhancing multiple massive clusters of front-end-optimizing (FEO) reverse proxies with on-the-fly content rewriting, image resizing, caching, request-response life cycle and Lua event handler execution (all multi domain/tenant). We also own the responsibilities of development, deployment and operation of a Walmart’s CDN ecosystem involving BGP/anycast, DNS servers and peer-to-peer health monitoring.

What will you do?

  • Develop custom experiences such as Queuing and Redirects Engine.
  • Leveraging Edge Compute to enhance the web experience for Walmart customers globally.
  • Automate CDN workflows and use your expertise in GoLang, JavaScript, and Terraform to implement solutions,
  • Make the web faster for our customers and associates worldwide by applying your knowledge of web standards and protocols to

What will you bring?

· Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or Mathematics or 11-15 years of applicable industry experience

· Experience with distributed systems and one or more commercially available content delivery network platforms

· Experience working with HTTP request/response protocols/lifecycle and related troubleshooting tools and techniques

· 5+ years of server-side experience in Go and JS

· Experience in using Terraform to provision and manage infrastructure as code

· Strong background in process design for reliable systems; strong “big picture” awareness of systems

· Ability to interact effectively with a variety of business and technical stakeholders

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing technical documentation

· Good generalist experience, with ability and willingness to read and write into all layers of a software stack

· A knowledge of web performance (DOM, HAR files, waterfall diagrams)

· Previous experience with config management frameworks such as salt stack.
