Job Title: ECVS Small Animal Surgery Residency 

Location: Anderson Moores, Winchester, SO21 

Job Type: Fixed term Contract (3-years) – 2 positions are available 

Hours: 5 days per week, Monday – Friday with participation in the OOH/on-call rota, as required. 

Your role and responsibilities 

Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists invite applications for an ECVS-approved 3-year Surgical Residency Programme, to commence on the 1st July 2025. 

You will be one of three ECVS residents and will join a team of around 40 referral clinicians, 4 of whom are ECVS Diplomates. You will partake in the small animal surgery referral service including contributing to the weekend emergency service and you will be encouraged to partake in clinical research projects.  

You must have excellent English language skills, be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS) or be eligible to register, be eligible to work in the UK and you must have a minimum of two years of clinical experience since graduation.  

Ideally candidates will have completed a rotating internship in a multidisciplinary referral centre as well as having experience of first-opinion small animal practice.  

The position is for three years and will satisfy the ECVS Standard Veterinary Surgery Residency requirements.

We have a comprehensive and established clinical and non-clinical programme for training, development and CPD.

  • Certificate as proof of completing a 12-month rotating internship or similar experience in practice

  • Two referees stated in the CV. The references can be sent directly from the referees.

Interviews are scheduled for Friday 7th February 2025. 

 

Due to the large number of applications anticipated, visits will now only be offered to candidates making an initial shortlist.  

 

English language requirement 

You must be able to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing. If English is not your first language, you must provide an IELTS (Academic) test (or equivalent).  

We require an overall score of 7 in IELTS (Academic) with no component below 6.5. A certified copy of your IELTS test result should be submitted with your application. The test result must have been obtained within 2 years of the start date of the course. Applications that do not satisfy these criteria will not be considered for shortlisting. 

Foreign language applicants are encouraged to practice as a veterinary surgeon in the UK for at least one year prior to application to the Residency programme. 

Salary Value:£38,000 per annum;
