What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for a Statistical Analyst. The role will independently contribute to satisfying the overall operational objectives of the Laboratory of Applied Omics within the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute through the provision of services and deliverables. This is a part-time (20 hours a week) opportunity located in Bethesda, MD.

  • Review data from the lab and examine the data for accuracy.

  • Build/revise scripts and coding and perform statistical and other analysis under the supervision of the Laboratory of Applied Precision Omics staff.

  • Prepare data and/or results for presentation and/or publication in collaboration with investigators.

  • Maintain comprehensive records in accordance with lab standard operating procedures including, but not limited to, data, scripts, and documents.

  • Work with investigator(s) to turn general research objectives into well-defined scientific and testable statistical hypotheses. Determine whether the available data or the data to be collected will allow the hypotheses to be tested.

  • Evaluate methodologies used and ensure results are valid and reliable.

  • Participate in regularly scheduled branch meetings; discuss data and/or results.

What You Will Need:

  • Master’s degree in statistics, computation computer sciences, or related fields.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.

  • Strong communications, both oral and written.

  • Coding experience in R, SPSS, or similar platforms.  


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • PhD preferred in statistics, computation computer sciences, or related fields.

  • A minimum of ONE (1) year of experience curating and managing datasets; performing statistical analysis for at least two projects; working with collaborators of different expertise; and preparing manuscripts and data for publication, preferred.

  • Previous experience with NIH preferred.
