Summary of Job Duties:

The Principal Investigator (PI) is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Research Assistant for an NIH-funded project, who will report directly to the PI. The Research Assistant will manage participant screening, recruitment, visits, and retention, and may assist with qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Responsibilities include conducting and analyzing data, managing IRB submissions, updating research protocols, synthesizing information, and assisting with outreach, recruitment, and data management. The role also involves coordinating interviews, handling biological samples, ensuring data quality, participating in team meetings, and preparing scientific presentations. The Research Assistant must be attentive to details; problem-solve; and work collaboratively and independently to complete tasks on time. This is a grant-funded position.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus three (3) years of research experience required.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and car transportation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience in statistical analyses, health, computer science, marketing research, or related field may also be considered.

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

  • Experience in working on surveys or focus groups/qualitative interviews is a bonus

  • Experience in developing PowerPoint and other scientific presentations.

  • Use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders.

  • Ability to work in a team and independently.

  • Be highly motivated and creative, and have critical thinking skills.

  • Be resourceful; responsible; accountable; collaborative; and have problem-solving skills.

  • Must be willing to screen and recruit participants.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MPH or completion of course requirements

  • One (1) year of research experience.

  • Experience working on public health projects.

  • Experience in the use of REDCAP and/or CLARA.

  • Experience in the use of SPSS, SAS, R, or other statistical packages.

  • Experience in conducting or analyzing qualitative interviews.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Enter and maintain recruitment, screening, and participant contact records.

  • Assist with interview scheduling and note-taking, survey dissemination, and intervention development.

  • Participates in regular project meetings, and trainings, provides updates on progress, and communicates regularly with the study team on recruitment and data collection progress.

  • Work with the study team to develop and implement secure systems for assuring the quality, confidentiality, and safety of the data and work with the data manager to maintain appropriate study logs, records, and databases.

  • Works with the team to analyze qualitative and quantitative data, write papers, and prepare presentations.

  • Work with the study team to problem-solve issues, develop appropriate solutions, and assist the study team when needed. 

  • Work with the Investigator Team to develop regular reports of study progress and preliminary data.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
