Software Development Engineer II

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II engineer to join our team within the Partner Tech organization. The vision for this organization is to encourage travel by building a framework for trusted marketplaces. We are building capabilities that inspire travel by providing quality, selection, value, and safety for all marketplace participants - that is, our customers, partners, suppliers. Our team works on the cutting-edge features in Expedia Group pricing services, ensuring we're giving travelers the best deals possible. Our applications are high throughput low latency systems essential to all of Expedia's pricing services. We are a team that is passionate about growth and opportunity, investing in our engineers so that we build the best applications possible. We work closely with product managers to build new features to improve Expedia's capabilities for all users of Expedia. Our team builds features that are used by every single hotel partner. We benefit both the traveler and our partners by providing novel ways for partners to optimize their rates to give them the greatest exposure to potential travelers.

What you'll do:

Work closely with your team and product counterparts to design new products that drive meaningful impact in our marketplace.

Deconstruct large, complex problems into manageable and achievable milestones driving streamlined execution by the team.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers helping them overcome obstacles and have growth opportunities.

Develop features that will drive our business through real-time feedback loops.

Define, develop, and maintain artifacts like technical design or business partner documentation.

Actively participate in code and design reviews.

Participate in user story creation in partnership with the team(s).


Who you are:

Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent relevant professional experience.

2+ years of professional, post-college, software development experience with Java, Scala or a similar object-oriented language.

2+ years of experience building large-scale cloud infrastructure applications or similar experience.

Capable of leading complex technical projects that drive alignment and consensus across multiple functional areas.

Have excellent communication skills with the ability to work well with a distributed team.

Dedicated to delivering high-quality, optimized code for a distributed architecture capable of servicing millions of requests per second.

Passionate about driving the future forward, creating inclusive team environments, and levelling up engineering teams.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $112,000.00 to $156,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
