Position overview
This role is for a highly motivated and detail-oriented attorney, preferably with a healthcare or life sciences background, to join our legal team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing legal guidance and support including litigation and other contested matters, commercial contracting, and global employee relations. This role reports directly to the VP, Deputy General Counsel and is an excellent opportunity for a talented attorney looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic and innovative healthcare-focused organization.
Please note this is a predominately remote-based role and the ideal candidate will be East Coast based, preferably near one of our offices in either Lexington MA, or Bridgewater NJ.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform prior art investigations and patentability assessments.
- Drafting and prosecution of patent applications.
- Provide infringement and validity advice.
- Monitoring and assessment of third-party patents.
- Performing due diligence in support of IP acquisitions, corporate transactions.
- Provide support to litigation proceedings.
- Instruction of outside counsel on IP matters on behalf of the Group.
- Support on drafting, negotiating, and advising on IP and technology contracts.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and practices that comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct training sessions and provide educational resources to employees and managers on IP matters to promote IP awareness and compliance within the organization.

Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline – biomedical, mechanical, electrical, or related.
- Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Admission to an applicable State Bar
- Admission to the USPTO
Role Relevant Experience and skills
- A minimum of five (5) or more years of experience as an Intellectual Property Attorney preferably in Med-Tech, healthcare or a related industry, acquired in an IP law firm or in-house IP department.
- Experience with technology transactions, including, for example, non-disclosure, material transfers, collaborations, engineering services, and licensing agreements.
- Experience in evaluating and managing patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios, performing IP due diligence for corporate transactions and handling strategic commercial agreements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and group presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic legal advice and counsel to global business partners within varied functions and global business units
- High degree of professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior.
Travel Requirements
The position may require limited business travel within the U.S., with occasional visits to U.K. and Europe. Travel is not expected to exceed 15% of the time for the position.
