About the role:
Provide event logging and recording of centrally managed law enforcement radio monitoring, monitoring of intrusion detection systems, non-emergency and emergency dispatch, incident reporting, and utilization of investigative databases.
Prerequisites:
- Must meet the requirements of an Entry-Level Dispatcher (Twelve (12) months total experience with Entry Level competencies) or possess two (2) year law enforcement dispatch experience.
- Must have received above average performance ratings as measured by the supplier’s performance rating system (if being promoted).
What you will do:
- Log and record events related to law enforcement radio monitoring.
- Monitor intrusion detection systems, make required notifications and dispatch appropriate personnel.
- Conduct incident reporting.
- Utilize investigative databases.
- Receive and process emergency and routine calls.
- Obtains and record all information regarding type of incident, exact location, and other pertinent. information including but not limited to potential threats, risks or hazards. Track all calls received via phone and radio and archive the data via entry into the CAD software. Process requests for information in regard to vehicle registration, driving records, and criminal history warrant checks, etc. utilizing NCIC/Criminal Justice Information Services
(CJIS) software/database.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- High School Diploma and a minimum of 3 years of relevant Law Enforcement or similar occupational experience in a Law Enforcement Command Center/Dispatch environment.
- Be a citizen of the United States of America.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees and with clients.
- Ability to pass a Government Security Background Investigation, including credit check, criminal background, and drug screening.
- Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts.
- Be able to sit for an extended period while monitoring multiple computer monitors.
- Ability to take technical direction and feedback from various sources.
- Committed to providing outstanding customer service and representation of The KACE Company in a professional manner.
- Ability to deliver the highest quality of work under extreme pressure.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to handle conflict in stressful situations.
- Be able to read and comprehend the English language; including, printed regulations, written instructions, training material, etc.
- Be able to write reports, and document events in a concise and accurate manner. This includes the ability to proofread all documentation for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Be able to speak the English language clearly and fluently.
- Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel). Radio communications surveillance software experience preferred.
- Be able to hear ordinary telephone and radio conversations with either ear.
- Be able to type a minimum of 45 words per minute (WPM).
- Be able to manage and prioritize tasks from multiple simultaneous sources (radio, telephone, alarm monitoring software, etc.).
Additional Position Requirements:
- Complete six (6) months of on-the-job training for those with 2 years of law enforcement experience.
- Obtain a dispatcher certification within nine (9) months of assignment that is equivalent to the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) Law Enforcement Communications (LEC) certification. (When starting with two (2) years of law enforcement experience, will need to retake certification if not certified in the state they’ll be working in.) Dispatch certification must be kept current.
- Must be cross-trained on Watch Desk Dispatcher assignment within six (6) months of effective date and show proficiency in the ability to perform Watch Desk Dispatcher duties.
- Obtain and maintain NCIC/NLETS Full Certification within ninety (90) days of NLECC start date (When starting with two (2) years of law enforcement experience, will need take Certification regardless of state jurisdiction).
- Cross-trained on Administrative Support Clerk position within 180 days of advancement.
Dress and appearance standards:
- USPIS requires all personnel are required to wear nothing less formal than business casual attire as defined by:
- Pants must be slacks.
- Shirts may be polo or dress (with collar).
- Footwear must be closed toe/heel shoes; no sandals, tennis shoes or flip flops.
- Appearance must be clean and neat; torn, tattered or soiled clothing will not be permitted.
- Hats, baseball caps, bandannas are not permitted
