The Smart Machines, Motion and Robotics (SMR) System Applications group is advertising a senior system applications engineering role, with a focus on supporting the growth of the robotics business in the North America region. The SMR team is responsible for expansion of ADI revenue globally in the areas of fixed robots, mobile robots, humanoids, and outdoor robots. Due to the nature and size of the potential market in the North America region, a need has been identified for a senior technical position, with a significant customer-facing aspect to the role, located in the N. American region. With an active robotics ecosystem in the Massachusetts region, the location of this role on the East Coast is an important factor. This role will be an integral part of the global SMR robotics team and will carry the following key responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the local sales teams and SMR marketing/business development to uncover new opportunities, understand customer technical needs and drive deeper customer engagement at a system level in the robotics areas outlined above, specifically in the North America region.
  • Engage with and drive ADI involvement with the N. America robotics ecosystem including the research and start-up support ecosystem
  • Work closely with the Industrial Vision, Trinamic, magnetic sensing, isolation and other technology groups to support system-level design-in activity in the region
  • Contribute to Go to Market and field training activity for robotics solutions through technical articles, training material, and tradeshow presentations
  • Help to drive next generation product roadmaps for relevant products including connectivity, power, vision, digital and motor control
  • Engage with Analog Garage (ADI’s corporate incubator program) and associated Horizon 3 research partnerships at a technical level to position ADI future technology and algorithm development for the robotics market
  • Continue the growth of SMR domain knowledge in the areas of humanoid robots, outdoor robotics including agricultural robotics, and the trends in these areas.

Skill Set:

  • BS or MS degree in electrical/electronic engineering with minimum 10 years’ industry experience in a domain linked to industrial robotics
  • Existing domain knowledge in robotics is required
  • Comfortable in communication skills enough to lead a technical discussion internally or with a customer
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to develop and articulate system requirements as part of a broader strategy
  • A confident peer influencer with strong communication skills who quickly establishes credibility and is capable of leading cross-functional technical teams.
  • Travel can be up to 20%
